A young woman has tragically lost her life, and a man is fighting for his in hospital following a devastating shark attack on the New South Wales mid-north coast. The incident occurred on Thursday morning at a beach near Crowdy Bay, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Emergency Response and Aftermath

Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 6:30 am after receiving reports that two people had been bitten by a shark. According to NSW Police, witnesses bravely assisted the pair before paramedics could arrive. Despite these efforts, the woman, aged in her 20s, died at the scene.

The man, also believed to be in his 20s, sustained serious injuries. He required an airlift and was transported to John Hunter hospital in a critical condition.

Ongoing Investigation and Beach Closure

In the wake of the attack, the beach was immediately closed to the public.
