A family's beloved springer spaniel has been dramatically rescued by coastguard teams after falling halfway down a perilous 100-foot cliff in Cornwall.
The Disappearance and Discovery
The dog, named Bruno, vanished on Sunday afternoon while on a walk with his owners near the cliffs at Trebarwith Strand. After an unsuccessful search, hope was renewed the following day when a vigilant member of the public spotted the stranded pet. Bruno was perched precariously on a narrow ledge approximately halfway down the steep cliff face.
A Technical and Nail-Biting Rescue Operation
Both the Boscastle and Polzeath Coastguard Rescue Teams were immediately tasked to the scene. Given the extreme danger and inaccessible location, a specialist cliff technician was required. In a tense operation captured on video, a qualified rescuer was lowered down the rock face to reach the isolated dog.
Thankfully, Bruno was found to be uninjured and visibly relieved to see his rescuers. After a quick assessment, he was secured into a safety harness and carefully hoisted back to the cliff top, where he was reunited with his extremely grateful and relieved owners.
A Happy Ending After a Harrowing Ordeal
A spokesman for Boscastle Coastguard detailed the successful mission, confirming the dog had been missing since Sunday and was located on Monday morning. The exact circumstances of how Bruno came to be stranded remain unknown.
His owners, who had appealed for help publicly, expressed immense gratitude. "Thank you to everyone who supported our search to bring Bruno home and a massive thanks to the coastguard team who safely rescued him," they said. "He is now home safe."
