Unusual Discovery in the Garden Center
Lisa Newton, who handles cat and kitten rescue for the organization, arrived at the Lowe's on Cornerstone Boulevard. She was directed to the Garden Center, where the kittens were hidden. Newton explained that the location was so secluded that it was nearly impossible to see or hear the kittens amidst the busy store environment.
Employees only spotted the cats while attempting to pull down a pallet from the shelf where they had been living. The kittens were tucked away in boxes, requiring a forklift to reach them. Newton noted that one litter appeared to have been delivered right there, indicating the spot served as a birthing area.
Rescue and Care Efforts
The kittens, estimated to be three to four weeks old, belonged to two feral cats that frequently visited the Garden Center. Newton expressed relief at the early rescue, stating that if the kittens had started crawling, they could have fallen and died. Each kitten is now safe and being bottle-fed under Newton's care at her home.
