The explosive third season of the hit drama Tell Me Lies has landed on Disney+, introducing a compelling new character who is already captivating audiences. Portrayed by rising star Costa D'Angelo, the character of Alex adds a fresh layer of intrigue and complexity to the tangled web of relationships at Baird College.
Alex's Pivotal Role in Season 3
The new season, which premiered with three episodes on January 13, 2026, continues to follow the toxic dynamic between Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White) and Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten). Alex enters the fray as the university's reliable drug dealer, first mentioned when Wrigley (Spencer House) enquires about MDMA.
His proper introduction comes when Pippa (Sonia Mena) and Bree (Cat Missal) meet him for a transaction. A palpable sense of recognition passes between Alex and Bree, a mystery that is soon unraveled. In the second episode, Alex is called upon to help Lucy during a severe panic attack, employing a calming technique of tapping her wrist—a method Bree herself taught the group in their first year.
This moment proves to be the key to his connection with Bree. It is revealed that Alex is Bree's former foster brother. He recognised her immediately but was uncertain if her apparent disregard was intentional. Bree later confides in Lucy that she first met Alex in a troubled foster home, hinting at a shared but difficult past that promises to be explored further as the season progresses.
Who Is the Actor Behind Alex?
The man bringing this enigmatic character to life is Italian-Australian actor Costa D'Angelo. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, where he completed a bachelor's degree in acting in 2022, D'Angelo has been honing his craft since he was just 12 years old, beginning his career as a child model.
His big break nearly came early. In a 2023 interview, D'Angelo disclosed that his first major audition tape was for Angelina Jolie's war film, Unbroken. He progressed through several rounds, ultimately finding himself as one of the final two candidates for a role. Although he didn't secure the part, the experience cemented his passion for acting. "I was devastated... But from there, I think I just fell in love with it," he admitted.
Prior to his Tell Me Lies debut, D'Angelo appeared in the iconic Australian soap Neighbours and the sci-fi thriller Crazy Fun Park. His career is now gaining significant momentum. He is set to play Young Adam Trask in Netflix's upcoming limited series East of Eden and has landed the role of Owen Boone in a new Netflix hockey series produced by Shawn Levy.
