Rosamund Pike's Bond Girl Panic: Waxing Brosnan's Chest With Boob Tape
Rosamund Pike's embarrassing Bond scene confession

Academy Award-nominated actress Rosamund Pike has shared her most embarrassing professional moment from her James Bond debut, revealing she briefly believed she'd accidentally waxed co-star Pierce Brosnan's chest during an intimate scene.

The Ice Palace Panic

During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show last week, the 46-year-old actress recounted the mortifying incident that occurred while filming Die Another Day in 2002. Pike was just 21 years old when she made her acting debut as Miranda Frost opposite Brosnan, then 72, who had already established himself as the iconic spy across three previous Bond films.

The scene in question featured the pair in a romantic clinch within an ice palace set. "I had all this modesty stuff, that they tape up your boobs and tape every bit of you with this kind of double-sided sticky tape," Pike explained. "I had never seen it before."

When the actors separated after filming the passionate tumble, Pike made a shocking discovery. "I looked down to check these sticky things were still in place, and they were covered in hair," she recalled. "And I was like 'Oh my God, I've waxed Pierce Brosnan's chest with my boob tape'."

The Furry Rug Revelation

The actress described her immediate panic, thinking she'd caused discomfort to her legendary co-star. "I thought I was just getting more and more covered in Pierce's chest hair," she told Clarkson.

Fortunately, the embarrassing situation had a much less personal explanation. The hair covering her modesty tape hadn't come from Brosnan at all, but rather from the furry rugs the actors were lying on during the scene. "It wasn't his chest hair," Pike clarified, expressing relief that she hadn't actually waxed the James Bond star.

From Bond Girl to Gone Girl

Elsewhere in the interview, Pike revealed another unusual professional experience while preparing for her critically acclaimed role in Gone Girl. To practice for a death scene requiring her to appear as if she'd been kissing, the actress used a Dora the Explorer doll.

Her unconventional rehearsal method nearly caused another awkward situation when she realised her Los Angeles home wasn't as private as she'd assumed. "I thought I had a private yard to practise in," she said. "Then I realised I was being looked at by people having breakfast in their houses whose decks overlooked mine."

Pike's performance as Amy Dunne in the psychological thriller earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, marking a significant career achievement following her Bond debut.

The actress also reflected on standing her ground during her Die Another Day audition, where she refused to strip to her underwear when asked. "I thought, 'Well, no, I'll be doing that if I get the part. I won't be doing that now'," she told Harper's Bazaar UK magazine.

This professional boundary-setting contrasted with her later stage work, where she appeared nude in a production of Hitchcock Blonde, though she successfully negotiated wearing a dressing gown for one particular scene.
