Veteran actor Pierce Brosnan found himself surrounded by family both on and off set this week as he continued filming the highly anticipated second season of Amazon Prime's gritty crime drama MobLand in London.
Family Support on Set
The 72-year-old former James Bond star was spotted filming exterior scenes on a damp and windy London street under the direction of acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie. Brosnan, who portrays Irish gangster Conrad Harrigan in the series, received moral support from his producer son Dylan Brosnan during breaks between takes.
Dylan, the 28-year-old elder son from Brosnan's marriage to Keely Shaye Smith, observed the filming quietly from across the street while his father worked alongside a gleaming blue Bentley. The younger Brosnan has built his own career in the entertainment industry with production credits including action feature The Unholy Trinity - which also stars his father - alongside Out of Reach and HBO documentary The Synanon Fix.
Beyond production work, Dylan has also experienced success in the fashion world after being signed by designer Hedi Slimane for a Saint Laurent campaign back in 2014.
Bridging Family Divides
The on-set family support comes just days after a significant personal milestone for the Brosnan family. On Sunday evening, Pierce was accompanied by Dylan as he reunited with his estranged son Christopher Brosnan, 52, at an upmarket London restaurant.
This meeting marked a potential reconciliation after years of distance caused by Christopher's struggles with addiction to cocaine and heroin. A source told The Mirror: "They both looked happy and relaxed while sitting down with one of Brosnan's other sons Dylan. Pierce and Christopher's problems have been well documented. But it seems they've managed to put them behind them. It was really nice to see them together."
The actor had previously spoken candidly about the painful decision to cut ties with his eldest son, telling Playboy in 2005: "Christopher is still very lost. Shockingly so. I know where he is, but he's having a hard life. I can only have strong faith and believe he will recover. He has tested everybody in this family but none more so than himself."
A Complex Family History
Christopher is the biological son of Brosnan's late first wife, Australian actress Cassandra Harris, and her ex-husband Dermot. Brosnan adopted both Christopher and his late sister Charlotte when their birth father died in 1986 during his marriage to Cassandra.
Tragedy struck the family again when Charlotte died from ovarian cancer - the same illness that claimed her mother's life - in 2013 at just 41 years old.
Despite their estrangement, Christopher had previously worked professionally with his father, serving as an assistant director on two Bond films including the 1999 blockbuster The World Is Not Enough.
Brosnan's family life has seen its share of challenges, with Christopher facing legal issues including a three-month jail sentence for drink-driving in 1997 and involvement in several high-profile nightclub incidents.
However, recent signs suggest healing within the family. Brosnan appeared to reach out to Christopher in a Father's Day post back in June 2022, writing: "My love forever to you dear sons, Paris, Dylan, Sean and Christopher, thank you deeply for your love on this Father's Day."
As filming continues on the London set of MobLand, with the second season expected to premiere in the new year, Brosnan appears to be balancing his professional commitments with meaningful steps toward family reconciliation.
