In a rare public display, actor Martin Freeman stepped out with his family for the London premiere of his latest project, the Netflix adaptation of Agatha Christie's The Seven Dials Mystery. The star was joined by his girlfriend, actress Rachel Benaissa, and his son, Joe, on the red carpet in the capital on Tuesday.
A Stylish Family Affair on the Red Carpet
The 54-year-old Sherlock star, who features in the new three-part series, cut a dapper figure in a navy pinstripe suit for the screening event. By his side, his partner of around five years, Rachel Benaissa, 31, looked elegant in a coordinated dark plaid blazer and trousers. The French beauty styled her hair in an updo and accessorised with gold jewellery, holding hands with Freeman as they posed for photographers.
Freeman's son, Joe, whom he shares with his former partner of 16 years, actress Amanda Abbington, also attended. Joe sported a smart black pinstripe suit with a cravat and was pictured alongside a female friend, making it a genuine family occasion for the typically private actor.
Inside the New Agatha Christie Adaptation
The premiere celebrated the upcoming launch of Agatha Christie's Seven Dials on Netflix, with all episodes set to land on Thursday, January 15. The gripping series stars Mia McKenna-Bruce as the inquisitive Lady Eileen 'Bundle' Brent, who takes on the role of detective to solve a perplexing murder. The cast also includes Corey Mylchreest, Edward Bluemel, and Nabhaan Rizwan.
Freeman also took time to pose for pictures with his co-stars, including Helena Bonham Carter and Mia McKenna-Bruce, showcasing the ensemble behind the much-anticipated mystery.
Glimpses into a Private Relationship
While Freeman and Benaissa keep their romance fiercely out of the spotlight, the actor has offered a few charming insights. During an appearance on Jessie and Lennie Ware's Table Manners podcast in April, he shared that they bond over a love of food and wine. "We like cooking," he said, affectionately quoting Benaissa's self-description as a "cheese and wine w****."
Earlier this year, on The Jonathan Ross Show, Freeman humorously recounted a family trip to a Sherlock-themed escape room with Benaissa and his two children, Joe and his 16-year-old daughter, Grace. He admitted they didn't escape quickly, joking about the oddity of visiting an attraction based on his own famous role.
The couple, first linked in 2020, have built a strong relationship since Freeman's split from Abbington in 2016. Benaissa, who hails from Toulouse, has reportedly formed a close bond with Freeman's children and is often a supportive presence at his professional events, though she recently deleted her Instagram, further shielding their private life from public view.
