Viewers of ITV's Loose Women were left utterly bewildered during Monday's broadcast after the show's panellists spontaneously twisted themselves into a series of bizarre positions. The unexpected turn of events provided one of the most memorable and talked-about moments from the long-running daytime programme.
A Moment of Unscripted Madness
The incident occurred just before the end of the show, as panellists Jane Moore, 63, Nadia Sawalha, 61, Frankie Bridge, 36, and Judi Love, 45 were wrapping up. Nadia and Judi decided to lay on the studio floor with their legs in the air, prompting fits of giggles from their co-hosts. Jane Moore asked, "Those two got a bit bored in the break, what are you doing?!"
Judi Love explained they were replicating a childhood pastime from the era before smartphones. "We're doing what we did when we were kids when you were bored," she said. Nadia Sawalha nostalgically added, "This is boredom before mobile phones. It was lovely."
From Boredom to a Yoga Lesson
Jane Moore then identified the pose as a legitimate yoga position, Viparita Karani, or the legs-up-the-wall pose. She listed its purported benefits, stating it "calms the nervous system, reduces stress and anxiety, improves circulation, relieves tired and swollen legs, relieves back pain, and aids digestion."
Encouraged by the explanation, both Jane and Frankie Bridge promptly joined their colleagues on the floor. The scene descended into further chaos as Judi Love raised a leg high and Frankie and Nadia joined their feet together to mimic a cycling motion. Nadia Sawalha admitted through laughter, "This has actually taken a strange turn. We are actually on telly..."
Viewer Reaction and Broader Show Topics
The surreal segment left many at home scratching their heads, with several taking to social media platform X to voice their confusion. One user bluntly posted, "What the f**k was that? #LooseWomen," while another commented, "Nobody wants to see this. #LooseWomen." A third viewer noted it was "one of those TV moments that will get burned into your memory."
Elsewhere in the same episode, Strictly Come Dancing professional Luba Mushtuk, 36, revealed her plans to spend Christmas Day alone, painting her walls. She appeared alongside EastEnders actor Nicholas Bailey, 54, ahead of their appearance in the Strictly Christmas special.
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
