The Inbetweeners Set for Reboot After 16-Year Break

Cult comedy The Inbetweeners is reportedly making a comeback, with all four original stars on board for a reunion more than 15 years after the show ended. The iconic Noughties sitcom, which ran for three series and spawned two films, is said to be the subject of a multi-million-pound deal that could see a new movie land on Netflix next year.

According to a source, the deal is on the cusp of being finalised, with discussions ongoing about production timelines, storylines, and cast. The source told The Sun: “Netflix have been keen to make the project happen partly because it’s enjoyed a bit of a renaissance since old episodes aired on the streaming service and introduced a whole new generation to the show.”

Actors Simon Bird (Will McKenzie), Joe Thomas (Simon Cooper), James Buckley (Jay Cartwright), and Blake Harrison (Neil Sutherland) are all said to be on board. Emily Atack, who played Charlotte “Big Jugs” Hinchliffe, is also reportedly keen to reprise her role. Creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley have confirmed the reboot will focus on the original characters, not a new set.

Joe Thomas confirmed that a deal has been struck between production companies Fudge Park and Banijay, but remained tight-lipped on details. He said: “I haven’t seen anything from them about what that might be, so I’m sort of, to a certain extent, waiting to hear as well.”

Fans have been speculating about a reunion since last summer, when Joe Thomas and James Buckley shared a cryptic Instagram post captioned “Working on something...” The new project is expected to air on Netflix rather than Channel 4, marking the first time the comedy will appear on television screens in 16 years.
