Hollywood icon Glenn Close has made a surprising confession about revisiting one of her most famous roles, the unforgettable Alex Forrest in the 1987 psychological thriller Fatal Attraction. The acclaimed actress, now 78, admitted on Graham Norton's Friday night show that watching the classic film for the first time in years left her genuinely stunned.
A Blast from the Past
Close, who starred opposite Michael Douglas in the iconic 'bunny boiler' role, joked that the experience left her blushing. 'I hadn't seen it in a very long time, and all the memories flew back,' she told the host. Her character, an enraged lover who stalks a man and his family after a brief affair, became one of cinema's most talked-about performances.
The actress shared a particularly candid observation from her recent viewing. 'But I didn't know I showed my breasts so much,' she quipped. 'They were very visible.' This revelation came as she sat on the famous sofa alongside fellow guests Alexander Skarsgård, Miriam Margolyes, and Nicola Coughlan.
Costumes, Earlobes, and a Unique Gift
Beyond her cinematic revelations, Close disclosed a fascinating clause in all of her professional contracts. The star confirmed that she has written into her agreements the right to keep any of her costumes. 'I can pick whatever I want unless it is rented,' she explained, 'though I have nicked a few of those things too! I have an extraordinary collection.'
This penchant for memorabilia led to one of her most unusual keepsakes. While working on Hillbilly Elegy, Close wore prosthetic earlobes, which she decided to keep. She then had them framed as a gift for the film's director, Ron Howard. 'He was slightly taken aback,' she confessed, 'because put together in the frame they looked like a vagina!'
Standing Up for a Co-Star
The conversation naturally turned to Close's current project, the Ryan Murphy legal drama All's Fair, in which she stars alongside reality television titan Kim Kardashian. Kardashian's performance as a fierce divorce attorney has been savaged by critics, with the show initially earning a rare 0% 'rotten' rating on Rotten Tomatoes (it has since climbed to 3%).
One critic from The Times declared it 'the worst TV drama ever,' while others took specific aim at Kardashian's 'stiff' and 'monotone' delivery. However, Glenn Close has now spoken out firmly in defence of her co-star.
In an interview with The Telegraph, the veteran actress praised Kardashian's work ethic. 'What surprised me was Kim's seriousness of intent,' Close stated. 'She had no pretensions that she was a great actress, but she was smart enough to have people around her who she could learn from.'
Close was emphatic in her support, adding, 'If she was a big ego, or what I call a 'life-is-too-short person', I would have been unhappy, but she's not.' She also suggested that the Kardashian family's public image may have contributed to the harsh critical reception, noting that 'not everybody likes the Kardashians and they have an image.'
The actress's recent appearance with Kardashian on an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, where they watched Fatal Attraction together, was also addressed. When asked if the joint movie night was awkward, Close replied simply, 'No, not at all.'
