Emmerdale December Drama: A Legend Arrives and a Favourite Faces Death
ITV's Emmerdale is set for an explosive December, with episodes airing in just over a week's time delivering a potent mix of joy and terror. Villagers are in for a monumental surprise with the arrival of a soap and music icon, while one of the show's most formidable characters confronts her own mortality in a chilling woodland ordeal.
Soap Legend Stuns The Woolpack
In a spectacular twist, Neighbours legend and singer Jason Donovan makes a surprise cameo on the ITV soap. The appearance leaves superfan Lydia Dingle, played by Karen Blick, utterly thrilled after she initially misses his concert. In a grand gesture, the concert is brought directly to her, with Jason and his band performing a set inside The Woolpack.
This impromptu performance does not sit well with planned performer Bob Hope, who is left annoyed by the last-minute change. The exciting event comes at a difficult time for Lydia, whose husband Sam Dingle quits his job after a heated row with Joe Tate. With the couple already facing significant money troubles, Lydia desperately urges Sam to get his position back.
When Joe refuses, Kim Tate steps in to help her friend. However, Lydia begins to question their friendship. This doubt leads her to not intervene when Sam organises a dodgy photo shoot on Home Farm land to make some quick cash.
Kim Tate's Life Hangs in the Balance
Kim, unaware of the scheme, has a surprise for Lydia and demands she attend the Christmas Fayre. This puts Lydia in a panic as she struggles to hide the illicit shoot from Kim. The secret is soon exposed when Vanessa Woodfield spots the activity and reports it back to Kim.
Fearing reprisal, Lydia is ordered to the pub by a furious Kim. Instead of the confrontation she dreads, her dreams come true with the surprise Jason Donovan concert. Jason himself is visibly touched by the warm welcome he receives from the villagers as the performance gets underway.
Meanwhile, Kim leaves the pub to investigate the dodgy shoot in the woods. The situation turns deadly when she suffers a grievous injury, leaving her unable to move her leg. Alone and helpless, she calls out for aid, but as time passes, a horrifying realisation dawns on her that she may not be found. Facing the very real prospect of death, Kim believes it could be the end for her. The question remains: will she be saved in time?
Other Villagers Face Their Own Challenges
Elsewhere in the village, Kerry Wyatt is left baffled but thrilled when she discovers a bank account set up in her name containing a staggering £15,000. Jacob Gallagher warns her that the money could be suspicious and advises her not to spend it. Kerry soon discovers the culprit is Eric Pollard, who confesses and explains his reasoning.
Initially angry, Kerry's stance softens when Pollard shares his deep-seated fears about Jacob's future. The two soon find themselves in cahoots, with Kerry reminding Pollard that if he wants her help with anything, he needs to ask her first.
Finally, Vinny Dingle's romantic hopes hit a snag. He is keen to spend quality time alone with Lewis Barton, making his feelings clear, but finds his efforts continually thwarted by Kammy Hadiq getting in the way.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
