Coronation Street Bombshell: Debbie Webster's Guilty Plea & Courtroom Twist Revealed
Corrie's Debbie Webster pleads guilty in shocking court twist

In a dramatic turn of events on Thursday's episode of Coronation Street, fan favourite Debbie Webster faced a life-altering decision in court, before a bombshell revelation was unveiled in an early ITVX release.

A Heartbreaking Courtroom Confession

Portrayed by actress Sue Devaney, Debbie stood nervously before the judge, charged with causing the death of vicar Billy Mayhew by dangerous driving, a second count of dangerous driving, and a third of driving under the influence of excess alcohol. Despite the frantic efforts of her husband Ronnie and brother Kevin to prove her innocence, Debbie uttered a single, devastating word: "Guilty. To all of them."

This confession came after a cruel campaign of manipulation by her other brother, Carl. Following the historic Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover crash, which occurred on a dark country road after Debbie's wedding, Carl has been exploiting her vascular dementia diagnosis. He ruthlessly shifted her into the driver's seat while she was unconscious and has since convinced her she was responsible for Billy's death.

Family Manipulation and a Desperate Plea

Carl, whose relationship with Abi had crumbled, sneaked in before the hearing and persuaded a confused Debbie to plead guilty to "avoid a trial," suggesting it would show remorse. Torn by guilt over Billy's death, Debbie agreed. "Oh, I do feel remorse. Billy's dead. Someone's got to pay for that," she told him.

Her true family, however, were horrified. Kevin had already deduced she couldn't have been driving due to the seatbelt bruising being on the wrong side of her body. They quickly enlisted lawyer Adam Barlow, hoping a health assessment could provide mitigation and prove she is too ill for a prison sentence.

Later, as the reality of a potential prison sentence sank in, a tearful Debbie begged Carl not to return to Germany. "I might go to prison. How am I going to cope in prison? Carl, I'm frightened!" she cried.

A Life-Changing Final Twist

After Carl departed, the episode's final moments delivered a major, life-changing revelation about Debbie's situation. While specific details of the twist are being kept under wraps to avoid spoilers, it promises to have significant ramifications for the character's future on the cobbles.

The early release on ITVX left viewers reeling, with many taking to social media to express their fury at the injustice. One fan wrote on X: "You didnt kill anyone Debbie!" while another questioned: "How come Debbie is the only one being blamed?" A third pleaded: "Oh Debbie you need to stop covering for Carl!"

Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
