Ant and Dec have revealed the full extent of the WhatsApp drama between the I'm A Celebrity campmates on their latest podcast episode. On their podcast Hanging Out with Ant & Dec, the presenting duo discussed what really happened on the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here South Africa final.
The finale episode saw Adam Thomas crowned King of the Jungle, but face arguments with David Haye and Jimmy Bullard throughout the final episode, leading both Sinitta and Gemma Collins to walk out of the live recording.
Since the show's finale, the actor has said he feels 'dead inside and numb' over the experience and claimed he won't appear on the show again even if he was paid '£10million', saying it's 'eaten away at his soul.' Adam said he felt the colour 'drain from his face' when Ant and Dec announced him as the winner, as his worst nightmare came true.
It seems things were brewing before the live show as the celebrities communicated on a group chat on WhatsApp. On the podcast, Dec said: "We didn't know quite what to expect when we got to the studio because there'd been so much stuff written in the press." Ant added: "Then we got to the studio and somebody said did you see Craig Charles on This Morning so we watched quickly on ITVX and we were gobsmacked that it had kind of escalated to that stage."
Dec said: "We didn't know until quite late on whether Jimmy was coming or not, then we found out that Jimmy was coming but that he had a bit of a bee in his bonnet and he wanted to get that off his chest. So it was kind of a weird night all round, and we'd heard that Gemma and Adam had left the WhatsApp group, and that there was a lot of moaning and complaining in the WhatsApp group."
Ant clarified: "We're not in this WhatsApp group, this is a WhatsApp group just for the celebrities."
Dec continued: "A lot of people were talking about what they were going to do and what they were going to say when the show came around. We had no idea which way it was going to go. And actually the main show went very very smoothly until we played Adam's trial and David Haye heckles from the audience 'do you think you deserve to win after all that?' So that was a taster as to what was to come in the second show."
Ant said: "And we said to David and to Jimmy in the front row look you'll get your right to reply in the results show later, not thinking that we would give them that much right of reply but that's what happened."
