Awkward On-Air Clash: Alison Hammond Silences Dermot O'Leary on This Morning
Alison Hammond tells Dermot O'Leary to stop interrupting

ITV's popular daytime show This Morning witnessed an unexpectedly tense moment between presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary during Friday's live broadcast, leaving viewers surprised by the on-air friction.

Black Friday Banter Turns Awkward

The incident unfolded as the presenting duo discussed Black Friday deals, particularly focusing on discounts for household appliances known as 'white goods'. When the off-camera crew cheered enthusiastically about the bargains, Dermot responded with scepticism, stating firmly: 'You can't cheer for white goods!'

Alison immediately countered with 'No, I like it', prompting Dermot to repeat his disapproval. As the crew cheered again for Black Friday, the former X Factor host added: 'No, no, you suckers! Taken in with the whole thing!'

The atmosphere shifted when Alison attempted to defend the shopping event, explaining: 'You need to take it seriously though because sometimes you can get a bargain and sometimes you don't.' Dermot continued with lighthearted comments about his own successful cat food purchases, but the mood had already changed.

'Are You Going to Let Me Finish?'

The situation reached its peak when Alison tried to continue her point about Black Friday shopping, only to be interrupted once more by her co-host. In a moment that stunned both Dermot and viewers, Alison turned to him directly and demanded: 'Are you going to let me finish?'

Dermot was left visibly speechless by the direct call-out, creating an awkward pause in the live broadcast. The pair have co-presented the Friday edition of This Morning since 2021 and are known for their well-established rapport, making the tension particularly noticeable.

Not the First Presenter Called Out

This incident follows another recent awkward moment on the show involving co-host Cat Deeley. During Thursday's episode, comedian Peter Kay called out Deeley for her interview technique while he was listing cancer charities benefiting from his tour.

Kay noticed Cat repeatedly saying 'yes' and 'yeah' as he named each charity and chuckled: 'I'm not laughing at bowel cancer, it's because she keeps saying, "yeah".' Viewers quickly took to social media to celebrate that someone had 'finally called Cat out' for the behaviour.

This isn't the first time Cat Deeley has faced criticism for her presenting style. Last year, viewers expressed frustration when she repeatedly interrupted chef John Torode during a cooking segment, with one social media user writing: 'The show is called This Morning. NOT the Ben Shepherd Show or the Cat Deeley Show. STOP talking over each other.'

Meanwhile, Friday's episode featuring the Hammond-O'Leary tension also included interviews with singer Jess Glynne and Carol McKee, mother of Jess' girlfriend and I'm A Celebrity star Alex Scott.

This Morning continues to air weekdays at 10am on ITV1 and ITVX, though viewers will be watching closely to see if any lingering tension remains between the usually harmonious Friday presenting duo.
