YouTube Launches Global 2025 Recap Feature
YouTube Launches Global 2025 Recap Feature

YouTube has officially launched its inaugural Recap feature, providing users with a comprehensive summary of their viewing habits over the past year. The Google-owned company announced the rollout on Tuesday, stating that the feature goes beyond previous music and gaming recaps to offer broader insights into users' watch history.

“YouTube Recap uniquely highlights interests, deep dives, and moments you explored this year, based on your watch history,” the company said in a press release. Users will receive up to 12 cards showcasing top channels, interests, and viewing habit evolution, along with a personality type based on their watched videos.

The feature is available now for North American users and will roll out globally this week. To access it, users must be signed into their YouTube account and navigate to the “You” tab, where a banner button indicates “Your Recap is here.” Alternatively, users can visit youtube.com/Recap.

Eligibility requires users to be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in their country) and not have a supervised account. Watch history must be enabled, and auto-delete settings must be turned off. YouTube noted that the Recap has been highly requested and categorizes users into at least 11 personality types, such as Skill Builder, Sunshiner, or Adventurer.

For users who listened to at least 10 hours of music on YouTube, the Recap will include a card showing total minutes listened and a link to a deeper music year-in-review. Alongside the Recap, YouTube also released its 2025 “End of the Year” lists featuring top songs.
