Princess Kate has revealed that instilling moral values such as kindness, respect, and honesty in her children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—is a non-negotiable priority, even above academic success. In past remarks, she stated, 'That is why William and I want to teach our little children... just how important these things are as they grow up. In my view, it is just as important as excelling at maths or sport.'
Kate's recent battle with cancer has reinforced these beliefs. In a video announcing the end of her treatment, she said, 'This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.'
The Princess, a passionate advocate of early years development, also spoke about the challenges of modern parenthood in 2023, telling radio host Roman Kemp that raising children today is 'tough'. She emphasised, 'It's not about the number of toys they've got or the number or sort of trips that you go on with them. It's just making sure that they've got the right emotional support around them, and that comes from the adults in their lives.'
Prince William echoed these sentiments in an interview with Eugene Levy on Apple TV's The Reluctant Traveller in October, describing their family as 'very open'. He said, 'We talk about things that bother us, and things that trouble us... It’s just important to be there for each other and to kind of reassure the children that everything is okay.'
William also praised his family's resilience amid Kate's cancer diagnosis, stating, 'I’m so proud of my wife and my father, for how they’ve handled all of last year. My children have managed brilliantly as well.'
