Comedian and television star Mo Gilligan has broken his public silence regarding his son, Rudi, born from his previous relationship with model Selina Christoforou. This comes months after Christoforou used social media to publicly criticise the comedian for being an absent father.
The Public Fallout and Private Words
The situation first came to light when Selina Christoforou, 35, shared a viral TikTok video detailing her experience. She claimed that Gilligan, 37, had shown little interest in their son since his birth in January 2024, stating she could "count on my fingers and toes" how many times he had seen the child. She described the difficulty of raising their son, Rudi, largely alone after a short-lived romance that began when the pair met online.
For months, Gilligan remained silent on the allegations. However, according to reports from The Sun, the TV personality recently addressed the matter during a comedy set at a pub in south London. Speaking about his 22-month-old son, Gilligan said, "He's a very lovely boy. A very, very lovely boy and despite whatever you see on social media, his mum is a good mum." He emphasised his respect for Christoforou, adding, "I'm not here to disrespect. That's the mother of my child. And I would never disrespect her publicly because she’s raising my son."
A Joke About Child Maintenance and a New Baby
During the same performance, Gilligan is said to have made a light-hearted joke about his financial responsibilities. He quipped that if people saw him on Antiques Roadshow, they would think, "The rent is due," in a reference to paying child maintenance for Rudi.
The comedian's personal life has been in the spotlight for another reason. It was reported that over the summer, Gilligan welcomed another child with his fiancée, Taia Tulher, 28. The couple has chosen to keep the name and gender of their new baby private. Following Christoforou's initial online posts, Gilligan also shared a rare, brief black-and-white video on his own social media, showing a young child presumed to be Rudi, seemingly enjoying time with his father.
