Darts superstar Luke Littler has spoken out about a terrifying motorway car chase that left him shaken, occurring mere days after he had triumphantly passed his driving test.
A Scary Introduction to the Road
The 18-year-old world champion was driving to visit his girlfriend, Faith, when he realised he was being aggressively followed by paparazzi. The situation forced the novice driver to take drastic evasive action on a busy motorway.
This frightening episode came just after Littler had celebrated a significant personal milestone. He had joyfully passed his practical driving test on his first attempt, with no minor faults. This success was especially sweet after he previously had to take the theory exam six times before finally passing.
The Harrowing Chase Details
Recounting the event to Darts Now, Littler described the fear he experienced. "On Wednesday, I was driving up to Faith's," he began. "I was getting followed. I made the latest exit you could possibly do on the motorway. I came off so late, and so did he. I think I did about three U-turns; he did the same. I was just shaking, nervous."
Littler emphasised the particular vulnerability of his situation, having only been driving independently for two days. He understood it was the photographer's job, but condemned the dangerous tactics of following a new driver on a congested motorway.
In a clever move to thwart the paparazzi, Littler decided to post pictures of his new £39,000 BMW 120 M Sport on his own Instagram account. By publishing the images himself, he effectively destroyed the commercial value of the paparazzo's photos, preventing them from being sold for profit.
Focusing on the Future
Despite this unsettling incident, Littler's focus remains firmly on his darts career. He is now preparing for the 2025 Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton.
The teenager has a monumental opportunity on the horizon. He could become the youngest ever world number one if he successfully defends his world title. Currently, less than £75,000 separates him from Luke Humphries at the top of the PDC World Rankings, with £150,000 in prize money and the Eric Bristow Trophy at stake.
Littler remains humble about his prospects, telling the PDC website: "Until I get that world number one spot, I will never call myself the best player in the world." He added, "I’ve just got to keep plugging away and keep producing my best darts."
His confidence is well-founded. After winning his first Grand Slam title in Wolverhampton last year by defeating Martin Lukeman 16-3, Littler has secured an impressive series of victories. In 2025, he became only the second player, after the legendary Phil Taylor, to win the World Championship, UK Open, World Matchplay, and World Grand Prix all in the same calendar year.
Reflecting on his incredible year, Littler said: "It sounds unbelievable to say, but it just goes to show how well I’ve played this year." With his eyes on future trophies, he concluded: "It has always been my dream to put my name on every trophy, but hopefully I can add on to it and become a double or triple-champion!"
