R&B Star's Extravagant Night Out Raises Eyebrows
American singer Chris Brown reportedly splashed an astonishing £160,240 during a single night out at London's exclusive Selene nightclub last week. The 36-year-old artist, who faces serious legal proceedings in the capital next year, allegedly partied with models and fellow musicians while running up one of the club's most substantial bills in recent memory.
The Jaw-Dropping Receipt Breakdown
Details emerging from the extravagant evening reveal Brown's entourage consumed an impressive selection of premium beverages. The staggering total included five bottles of £3,000 Champagne, eight vodkas priced at £900 each, and three Clase Azul Tequilas costing £1,200 per bottle. The upscale Soho establishment later shared a photograph of the receipt on their Instagram account, though they carefully omitted identifying the high-spending client.
The secret of Brown's involvement only emerged when members of his team posted social media updates featuring the rapper during his UK visit. A source speaking to The Sun commented: 'Chris lives life in the fast lane and thinks nothing of splashing out on the best there is.'
Serious Legal Clouds Looming
This lavish expenditure comes against a backdrop of significant legal challenges for the Grammy-winning performer. Brown is scheduled to stand trial in London next year concerning an alleged bottle attack on music producer Abraham Diaw. The incident reportedly occurred at the Tape club in Hanover Square, Mayfair on February 19, 2023.
According to court documents, Brown allegedly struck Mr Diaw multiple times on the head with a tequila bottle. CCTV footage is said to show the singer chasing the producer before physically assaulting him. The artist was subsequently arrested at Manchester's Lowry Hotel after arriving in Salford via private jet.
Brown appeared at Southwark Crown Court last month alongside his co-defendant, Dallas rapper Omololu Akinlolu, 38. Both men have denied attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to Mr Diaw. Brown additionally pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon.
Bail Conditions and Trial Timeline
In a recent development, Brown has been permitted to return to the United States on bail while awaiting trial. Prosecutor Heide Stonecliffe KC emphasised that this decision represented 'unusual circumstances' and should not be interpreted as lenient treatment.
Judge Tony Baumgartner approved the bail variation while warning both defendants they must return to the UK when required. The judge described Brown's revised bail conditions as 'very stringent', though specific details weren't disclosed in open court.
Previous bail terms required Brown to pay a £5 million security fee to the court and surrender his passport. Additional restrictions prohibited contact with either Mr Akinlolu or Mr Diaw, and barred attendance at the Tape nightclub where the alleged incident occurred.
Following his May court appearance, Brown posted 'From the cage to the stage!' on his Instagram account. The singer and Mr Akinlolu face a week-long trial beginning October 26, 2026, with a case management hearing scheduled for January 28 next year.
Brown first achieved fame as a teenager with his distinctive R&B vocals and later transitioned into rap music. His career has been marked by both commercial success and controversy, particularly regarding his former relationship with pop star Rihanna. Since his 2005 debut album, he has released ten additional studio albums and sixty-four singles, including hits like 'Run It!' and 'No Air' with Jordin Sparks.
