Manchester Pizzeria's Wheelbarrow Tiramisu Challenge: Eat It in 30 Mins for Free
Wheelbarrow Tiramisu Challenge: Free If Eaten in 30 Mins

A pizzeria in Manchester has introduced a unique food challenge that involves consuming an entire wheelbarrow filled with tiramisu. If participants can finish the dessert within 30 minutes, the meal is complimentary. The offer has generated significant excitement on social media, with many expressing confidence in their ability to complete the task.

The Challenge

Ciaooo, an Italian restaurant located in Manchester's Northern Quarter, launched the challenge on Instagram. Owner Lory Grigori announced: "Hi, it's Lory from Ciaooo pizzeria. We've created a fun challenge for you to try with a friend or family member. Eat the entire wheelbarrow tiramisu. Do you think you can finish it in 30 minutes? If you do, it's completely free. Plus, you'll win a t-shirt and a full meal for two at Ciaooo pizzeria. Let's go have fun."

Social Media Reactions

Instagram users were quick to respond with enthusiasm. One person commented: "'With a friend or family member'. Nah you're okay, I got this." Another wrote: "I honestly think I'm in with a chance." A third user humorously noted: "I hope it's decaf coffee in it otherwise I'd die." Someone else asked: "Ok I'm there. How do I book?" Another boldly claimed: "Wouldn't even touch the sides mate, done in two minutes flat."

Details of the Offer

Lory explained that the dessert, her homemade tiramisu, costs £150, which is refunded if challengers can finish the entire wheelbarrow. Participants must book in advance, and they are allowed to bring a friend if they find the portion too large. Winners also earn a spot on the restaurant's prestigious wall of fame.

About Ciaooo

Lori and head chef Stefano Mordecchi opened Ciaooo on Swan Street in 2018. The restaurant has since been recognized as one of the city's top independent pizza places. Celebrities such as former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson, actor James Nesbitt, and Manchester City player Rúben Dias have dined there. In 2024, it was shortlisted for Best Family Business and Best Pizza at the prestigious Italian Awards.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News last year, Lory said: "I've been making tiramisu since I was a child. I never had any training on it, but I just really enjoyed making it - some of them were nice, others maybe not so much. I have seen some recipes online where people have mixed the traditional recipe up with things and it gave me the idea of starting my own tiramisu company on the side. They have been selling out all the time."
