Sophie Monk Declines KIISFM Offer to Replace Kyle & Jackie O

Sophie Monk Rejects KIISFM Breakfast Radio Role Despite Being Network's Top Choice

Sophie Monk has emerged as the leading candidate to replace the cancelled Kyle & Jackie O Show on KIISFM Sydney, but the television personality has reportedly declined the opportunity multiple times. According to sources cited by News.com.au, ARN has approached Monk on three separate occasions since terminating the contracts of Kyle Sandilands and Jackie 'O' Henderson.

Monk's Radio History and Current Hesitations

An insider revealed that Monk, aged 46, has "shut them down and has no interest" in taking over the prestigious breakfast slot. Her reluctance stems from a previous unsuccessful stint in breakfast radio with Merrick Watts and Jules Lund in 2014, which ended in poor ratings. The source explained, "She has done breakfast before, and it didn't work out because she didn't love who she was teamed up with."

Monk is reportedly cautious about committing to another full-time breakfast radio role without an ideal co-host who complements her down-to-earth personality. The insider added, "What she is keeping in mind is how difficult breakfast hours are and when it starts getting cold, and the ratings are going down. It could negatively impact her ability to earn outside of radio. If you have a stench of failure on you, it can impact other work."

ARN's Desperate Search for Replacement Talent

With Monk declining their advances, ARN is now scrambling to find suitable talent to fill the void left by one of Australia's most successful radio duos. The network is considering several high-profile names, including:

  • Ben Fordham
  • Carrie Bickmore
  • Karl Stefanovic

Currently, Mike Etheridge is hosting the time slot solo on an interim basis while ARN searches for a permanent solution.

Why Monk Was Considered the Frontrunner

Monk was viewed as a natural successor for several compelling reasons:

  1. Her existing working relationship with ARN
  2. Her personal friendship with both Sandilands and Henderson
  3. Her previous experience replacing the duo in 2014 when they left 2Day FM
  4. Her down-to-earth nature and cheeky banter that made her a fan favourite

Many listeners had hoped Monk would join Sandilands as a new duo after Henderson's departure on February 20th, but those plans collapsed when ARN terminated Sandilands' contract following his two-week suspension.

The Financial and Legal Fallout for ARN

The network is facing significant challenges beyond just finding replacement hosts. ARN's market value has plummeted to between $100 million and $110 million as of late March 2026, down from its previous dominant position in Australian radio. At one point, the valuation dipped to approximately $98.5 million.

The situation has been exacerbated by explosive legal actions from both former hosts. Sandilands is pursuing a claim believed to be worth up to $85 million, while Henderson has launched her own lawsuit alleging adverse action and breach of contract. These legal battles began after Henderson's sensational on-air exit on February 20th, which marked the beginning of the end for the long-running radio partnership.

When approached for comment about the reports regarding Monk, ARN declined to provide any additional information. Daily Mail has also reached out to Monk for her perspective on the situation.
