Cruz Beckham Confirms Mother's Complete Tattoo Removal
Cruz Beckham has publicly confirmed that his mother, fashion designer and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, has undergone complete tattoo removal. The 21-year-old revealed this during an Instagram Q&A session, stating definitively that Victoria no longer has any of her six former inkings.
Sentimental Tattoos Now Erased
Victoria Beckham's removed tattoos included deeply personal tributes to her husband David Beckham. Most notably, she had his initials "DB" and the Hebrew phrase "Together, forever, eternally" on her left wrist, commemorating their tenth wedding anniversary. Directly below this, the numerals VIII-V-MMVI marked May 8, 2006 - the date the couple renewed their wedding vows.
Above this wrist tattoo, the Latin phrase "De Integro" meaning "again from the start" has also been removed through laser treatment. On her lower back, Victoria previously displayed five stars representing herself, David, and their three sons: Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz. It remains unclear whether she added a sixth star following daughter Harper's birth in 2011.
The Hebrew Poem That Once Adorned Her Back
The most substantial tattoo Victoria has removed was a Hebrew poem running down her back. The inscription read "Ani l'dodi li va'ani lo haro'eh bashoshanim," which translates to "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine." This identical phrase appears on David Beckham's arm, making its removal particularly significant.
Victoria first addressed her disappearing tattoos in 2022 during an appearance on The Today Show. She explained her decision simply: "I had these tattoos a long long time ago and they just weren't particularly delicate. Mine were just a little bit thick and they were bleeding a little bit and they just weren't as pretty." She emphasized that the removal "doesn't mean anything more than that" and concluded "I was just a bit sick of the tattoo. It's as simple as that."
The Practicalities of Tattoo Removal
Laser tattoo removal typically involves using coloured light beams to break ink into microscopic fragments that the body can absorb and eliminate through the liver and digestive system. Private clinics generally charge approximately £150 per session for small tattoos, with larger designs costing up to £800 per treatment. Most substantial tattoos require eight to ten sessions for significant fading.
The procedure often causes temporary side effects including discomfort, blistering, and redness. Complete removal is rarely achieved, with most tattoos fading substantially rather than disappearing entirely. This makes Victoria's complete removal particularly noteworthy.
Contrasting Family Approaches to Body Art
While Victoria has eliminated all her tattoos, her husband David continues to display dozens across his body. Their sons have also embraced body art, with Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz all sporting tattoos. Interestingly, the three brothers share matching "brotherhood" tattoos obtained in 2023 from fine line artist Pablo, known online as Certified Letter Boy.
Brooklyn's relationship with his family tattoos has evolved dramatically following his public estrangement from his parents in January. He has covered multiple family tribute tattoos, including a "Dad" inscription with the message "Love you Bust" (David's nickname for him) on his upper arm. Recent images show this replaced with abstract shapes and a star.
Similarly, Brooklyn has covered finger tattoos bearing his siblings' names and transformed a "mama's boy" chest tattoo dedicated to Victoria into a floral design, possibly representing his wife Nicola Peltz. Brooklyn reportedly has over seventy tattoos honoring his wife.
Victoria Beckham's tattoo removal represents a significant personal transformation for the fashion icon, contrasting sharply with her family's continued embrace of body art. Her decision, while aesthetic rather than symbolic according to her own explanation, marks the end of visible permanent tributes to her marriage and family that she once proudly displayed.
