According to a report in The Australian, it appears increasingly unlikely that Stefanovic will choose to extend his multi-million-dollar contract when it reaches its expiration at the conclusion of this year. The publication suggested network executives underestimated Stefanovic's dedication to maintaining the project's autonomy from Nine's editorial control. In response to queries about Stefanovic potentially deviating from the company line in his podcast content, a Nine spokesperson emphasised the podcast's independent nature, stating it is entirely produced by Stefanovic himself.

In a recent episode of his podcast, Stefanovic expressed profound regret for his involvement in Channel Nine's 'This is Our Shot' Covid-19 vaccination campaign during the height of the pandemic in 2021. "I am definitely sorry for the role I played in not questioning the science, in not questioning more the government mandates, and I feel like I isolated people because of that," Stefanovic stated.
