Harry Styles Curates Diverse Meltdown Festival 2026 Line-up at Southbank Centre
Pop icon Harry Styles has officially revealed the eclectic and genre-spanning line-up for the 2026 Meltdown festival, which he has personally curated. The event will be hosted at the prestigious Southbank Centre in London this summer, marking a significant highlight in the venue's 75th anniversary celebrations.
Headline Performance and Festival Dates
The 32-year-old former One Direction star will take centre stage with a headline performance at the Royal Festival Hall on June 16. The festival itself is scheduled to run from Thursday, June 11, through to Sunday, June 21, offering ten days of musical exploration and entertainment.
Styles expressed his profound enthusiasm for the project, stating: "Music is my life. Every artist involved in this year's Meltdown festival means so much to me, both as a fan and a musician. It's a true honour to host legends who have paved the way for the generations that follow them, as well as new acts that have inspired me to push my creative boundaries."
An Unforgettable and Diverse Musical Experience
He further emphasised the unique nature of the event, adding: "There are some incredibly unique, one-of-a-kind performances planned and the Southbank Centre is such a special place to experience live music. I hope attendees and performers have an unforgettable time this year at Meltdown. I can't wait."
The curated line-up showcases a remarkable breadth of talent across jazz, pop, indie, and electronic genres, reflecting Styles' wide-ranging musical passions and deep curiosity.
Featured Artists and Performances
The festival will feature an impressive array of artists, including:
- Rock band Warpaint, who will kick off the event with their only scheduled show in 2026.
- Renowned US saxophonist Kamasi Washington, who will deliver two distinct performances: one focusing on his album Fearless Movement and another reinterpreting classic jazz works.
- Jazz musician Shabaka Hutchings, set for a collaborative performance with special guests.
- Singers Erika de Casier, Foushee, and Nilufer Yanya.
- Rock duo Getdown Services and musician Mulatu Astatke, who will blend jazz, funk, and traditional Ethiopian music.
- Canadian singer-songwriter Beverly Glenn-Copeland, rock band Bar Italia, and musician Orlando Weeks.
The opening weekend will also include an intimate concert by singer-songwriter Stephen Fretwell and a dynamic DJ set from Ninajirachi.
Special Ensemble and Additional Talent
A notable highlight will be a performance by the Devonte Hynes Ensemble, comprising Hynes, Adam Tendler, Caecilie Trier, and Tariq Al-Sabir. This group promises a fusion of contemporary composition, classical instrumentation, and experimental arrangements.
Additional musicians confirmed for the line-up include Yussef Dayes, Jon Hopkins, Maddie Ashman, Leo Abrahams, and James Murphy, ensuring a rich and varied programme.
Free Participatory Events and Workshops
Beyond the main stage performances, the festival will incorporate a free programme of participatory events. This will feature appearances from Styles' favourite artists outside the music sphere, outdoor performances, and hands-on workshops, broadening the cultural experience for attendees.
Artistic Director's Praise
Mark Ball, the artistic director of the Southbank Centre, praised Styles' curation as "incredibly exciting." He remarked: "Their breadth speaks to Harry's deep curiosity about music and his wide-ranging passions, moving fluidly across genres, generations and scenes. What's striking is the sense of connection behind the programme: you can feel the care and intent in every choice. It's a line-up – including of course Harry himself – that promises to deliver a classic Meltdown festival, and an opportunity to see Harry's artistic world manifested in a brand new way for audiences."
