Will Reeve, the son of the late Hollywood icon Christopher Reeve, has married his fiancée, event planner Amanda Dubin, in a ceremony in Miami. The wedding took place on Saturday, more than a year after the couple announced their engagement in November 2024. The news was officially confirmed by People magazine.
A Celebration Among Friends and Colleagues
The joyous occasion was attended by close friends and family, including several of Will's colleagues from ABC News. Fellow anchor Robin Roberts was spotted in Miami with colleagues Sam Champion and Lara Spencer, alongside her spouse Amber Laign. Roberts hinted at the festivities on her Instagram, posting about a 'pre-party' before heading 'to celebrate a beautiful couple say I do!' She later described the wedding as 'a magical night celebrating a magical couple.'
Amanda Dubin's mother, Victoria, shared her emotional reaction on social media as she watched her 29-year-old daughter walk down the aisle. 'She took our breath away and the emotion her father and I feel is palpable,' Victoria posted on her Instagram Stories.
A Misdirection Proposal
Will, 33, and Amanda first revealed their engagement in a joint Instagram post on November 10, 2024, sharing the news of a proposal that had taken place two days earlier. The couple simply captioned the image 'Us.'
In an appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark last year, Will recounted the elaborate plan to surprise Amanda. He fabricated a story about attending a charity event in Manhattan to throw her off the scent. 'I was like, "We gotta go. We gotta stop by,"' Will explained. 'And she was like, "This is the dumbest plan that I've ever heard."'
Upon arriving at the location, Amanda, an event planner, began taking video for inspiration, only for Will to tell her to put her phone down. 'And she goes, "Oh my God!" and then she knew what was happening,' he shared, describing the scene he had pre-set with roses, a cellist, and a photographer.
Remembering a Hollywood Legend
Will is the son of Christopher Reeve, the actor who famously portrayed Superman in four films between 1978 and 1987, and the late singer and activist Dana Reeve. Christopher Reeve's life changed dramatically after a horseback riding accident in May 1995 in Culpeper, Virginia, which left him paralysed from the neck down.
Despite his injuries, Reeve became a tireless advocate for spinal cord research through his Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation. He defied medical expectations by regaining sensation in parts of his body. Tragically, he died of cardiac arrest on October 10, 2004, at the age of 52. Dana Reeve passed away from lung cancer in 2006 at age 44.
Will Reeve has followed a path in journalism, now working as a correspondent for ABC News, building a career distinct from but forever connected to his father's enduring legacy.
