Former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! contestant Vogue Williams has opened up about a distressing off-camera panic attack she pleaded with ITV producers not to show during her time in the Australian jungle.
The Unseen Jungle Meltdown
The Irish TV presenter and podcast host, who is married to Made In Chelsea's Spencer Matthews, became the third celebrity to exit the show last month. Following her departure, she reunited with co-host Joanne McNally on their popular podcast, My Therapist Ghosted Me, to reflect on her experience.
Addressing concerns from listeners who noticed she seemed anxious and was biting her nails on screen, the 40-year-old explained the intense pressure of constant filming. "You are filmed all day long and there are so many cameras in the camp," she said. While generally happy, Williams pinpointed a specific incident triggered by a severe lack of sleep, which she knows exacerbates her anxiety.
A Plea to Producers During a Panic Attack
After a sleepless night followed by a trial involving cockroaches, Williams feared another restless evening. "I started having an absolute meltdown just lying there," she confessed. The situation escalated when she went to the Bush Telegraph, the jungle diary room.
"I started having a panic attack. I was like [making out of breath noises] 'Please don't show this because everyone will see how mental I am'. I just couldn't control it and went into full panic mode," Williams revealed. She praised the show's crew for their supportive response, saying they tried to talk her through the episode calmly.
Seeking Help and Reflecting on a Late Entry
The next day, Williams sought help from the show's psychologist, Sandra. "My anxiety just hit ninety... she just completely reset me," Williams stated, noting she felt fine afterwards. She also reflected on entering the camp as a latecomer alongside Tom Read Wilson, who remains in the competition.
Williams believes joining after the original ten celebrities had bonded was "a little bit harder." Reviewing footage, she sensed some initial annoyance from the established group. However, she was grateful for the shorter stint, which meant less time away from her children, and left on day thirteen feeling ready to go.
As Williams adjusts to life outside the camp, the final four celebrities—Tom Read Wilson, Shona McGarty, Aitch, and Angry Ginge—are set to face the legendary Celebrity Cyclone trial. I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! continues nightly at 9pm on ITV1, STV, ITVX and STV Player.
