Victoria Beckham has opened up about the one marital habit of her husband, David Beckham, that drives her to distraction: his chronic punctuality. The fashion designer, 51, shared this and other personal revelations during a candid appearance on the US talk show Watch What Happens Live.
The Perils of Being Too Punctual
Celebrating 26 years of marriage to the retired football star, 50, Victoria admitted that David's compulsion to arrive early for everything has become a source of embarrassment. She recounted a recent incident where they turned up at a party so early that the waiting staff had not yet arrived. "David likes to be early for everything," she told host Andy Cohen. "We went to a party recently and we were there before the waiting staff. It's embarrassing at this point."
When Cohen suggested she should simply arrive late, Victoria was in full agreement, replying, "Exactly what I say." The couple, parents to four children, clearly still navigate the small quirks of their long-term partnership.
Madonna's Pivotal Role in Her Fashion Journey
Elsewhere in the interview, the former Posh Spice credited music icon Madonna with providing a crucial boost at the launch of her fashion label. Asked about her proudest moment of a celebrity wearing her designs, Victoria pinpointed the very first collection. "Madonna wore one of my designs on W Magazine and that was really exciting," she revealed.
She expressed ongoing gratitude for anyone choosing her designs amidst vast competition, but emphasised that Madonna's endorsement was a game-changer. "It really did [change things], because I was not expecting it, and it's Madonna!" she exclaimed after Cohen probed on the impact.
Spice World Revelations and High Street Secrets
The fun-filled interview took a nostalgic turn backstage, where Victoria enthusiastically recreated a famous scene from Spice World The Movie. Dressed in a chic champagne outfit from her own collection, she lip-synced the 1997 line, "It's always the same, I never know what to wear." Host Andy Cohen and producer John Hill joined in, donning wigs to impersonate Sporty and Baby Spice.
This led to a surprising confession about her iconic Spice Girls wardrobe. When a fan asked if her favourite 'Posh' ensemble was the "little Gucci dress," Victoria set the record straight. "It wasn't actually a real Gucci dress, it was from the high street," she admitted. She explained that in the group's early days, designer clothes were but a dream. "I made everyone think it was designer but it wasn't," she revealed, offering a glimpse into the crafted image of the global pop phenomenon.
