Taylor Swift has released her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, and fans are hailing a particular track as a genius move. The song, titled 'Cancelled!', appears to be a strategic play to control search results.
When users search for 'Taylor Swift cancelled', the top results now show links to the song's lyrics and streaming platforms, pushing older negative stories down. Fans on X praised the move, with one writing: 'This is now what will appear when you search “Taylor Swift cancelled” instead of some bulls*** from 2016.'
This is not the first time Swift has used song titles to her advantage. In 2023, she released 'Slut!' as part of 1989 (Taylor's Version), which similarly dominated search results with positive content.
During an August 2025 appearance on the New Heights podcast, Swift admitted she is not a heavy social media user but enjoys dropping Easter eggs for fans. The album features 12 tracks and a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter.
While it is unclear if the title was intentional to cleanse her search feed, fans believe it showcases Swift's savvy. As one fan noted, 'If anyone can “cancel” Taylor, it’s herself.'
