Sheridan Smith Reveals Holiday Romance with Stuntman

Sheridan Smith has opened up about an unexpected holiday romance with a stuntman while shooting a drama on location in Greece. The much-loved star, 44, is thought to have been working on The Castaways, a television drama in which she portrays a character called Erin, when the romance blossomed. The production was filmed in Greece in 2023, during a period when Sheridan had parted ways with Jamie Horn, with whom she shares a child.

Details Shared on Podcast

She dished the details to Alan Carr on his Life's a Beach podcast, confessing: "I did have a holiday romance. I did, actually. I was filming in Greece and the stuntman... giving so much away... who taught me to swim. The way he was holding me! The next thing, we did have a bit of a romance." Alan simply replied: "Oh my god."

After revealing to the host that it was an "exclusive" piece of information, the comedian responded: "Oh my god, that's amazing. Something about holidays though innit? Just get you horny on holidays." The Gavin and Stacey star, who had been with fiancé Jamie for three years, replied: "It's the heat, it is, and the bodies are all out." Alan meanwhile said: "Oh god yes, stop it now!"

The Production and Social Media

The Paramount+ production centres on a woman named Erin who travels to Fiji to investigate a missing persons case involving her sister. During the Greek shoot, Sheridan, who boasts 791,000 followers, posted a selfie on her social media alongside professional stuntman Alex Anlon, which sent fans into a frenzy, as reported by the Liverpool ECHO.

One of her captions stated: "Love filming here in Greece. With my set bff @that_stunt_dude. I was a non swimmer till we met! And plus I have my precious lil man Bilbo with me x." At the time, one follower responded: "You make the perfect couple." A second commented: "You look rather good together." While a third remarked: "You two look good together just saying."

Adopted Scouser

Sheridan has previously revealed she feels like an "adopted scouser" ever since portraying Cilla Black in a 2014 ITV series, a role which secured her both a National Television Award and a TV Choice Award. Speaking on BBC Radio 2, she explained: "I do feel like an adopted Scouser and they do tell me that, which is lovely. I just love the city, I'm just obsessed with the people, they're so friendly, although when I was doing Cilla, I do remember someone going past and they went, 'Who's that, Lulu?' But they're just brilliant and fun and I do feel that after Cilla came out they've kind of taken me under their wing. So to be back there was great, they were bringing me cups of tea, inviting me around, inviting me out, it was great, I love them."

She added: "I love playing Cilla, because obviously she's so iconic and well known, I mean the teeth helped, but I did a lot of research on her three months before and training my voice to sound a bit like her. But we recorded the songs live, the history of the Cavern Club, of Liverpool, is amazing."

New Drama

Her newest drama, The Cage, is a BBC One production that follows two casino workers who catch each other stealing.
