Sarah Michelle Gellar Celebrates Freddie Prinze Jr.'s 50th Birthday

Sarah Michelle Gellar radiated a youthful glow as she celebrated her husband Freddie Prinze Jr.'s significant milestone birthday over the weekend. On Sunday evening, the actress orchestrated a festive party to ring in his 50th birthday and commemorated the occasion with a touching tribute on Instagram.

A Heartfelt Social Media Homage

Gellar, 48, posted two delightful photo booth snapshots of the pair together, captioning the images with warm sentiments. 'Happy Milestone Bday @realfreddieprinze,' wrote the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star. 'Age is simply the number of years the world has gotten to enjoy you,' she continued, adding, 'And no one has enjoyed you, more than me.'

Timeless Romance Captured in Photos

The couple, married for over two decades and celebrated as one of Hollywood's most enduring love stories, appeared joyous and playful in the photos. One snapshot featured both puckering their lips with humorous expressions, while another showed them sharing a tender public display of affection.

Prinze Jr. beamed with a broad smile as they embraced, with Gellar planting a kiss on his cheek. The images highlighted their seemingly ageless appearance, with the pair looking remarkably youthful despite the passage of time.

Stylish Celebrations and Lasting Bonds

For the birthday festivities, Prinze Jr. opted for a casual yet elegant ensemble, wearing a light brown cashmere button-down over a taupe T-shirt. Gellar elevated the glamour in a sparkling sequined minidress, her blonde hair styled in effortless beach waves.

The couple, who will mark their 24th wedding anniversary in September, first met on the set of the 1997 horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer. Their relationship blossomed from a deep friendship, as Prinze Jr. recounted in a recent interview.

From Friendship to Forever

'We were friends for a good couple of years before any sort of date happened,' Prinze Jr. told Access Hollywood. 'We met on that movie and became really close, really good friends. We lived ten minutes away from each other, so we made it a point to maintain the friendship and it turned into something else.'

He also revealed that their first date was unplanned, occurring when a group dinner unexpectedly became an intimate meal for two. 'We were supposed to go out with a group of people, and everybody else bailed… so it was just the two of us,' he shared on The Howard Stern Show.

A Private Proposal and Collaborative Projects

After dating for several years, Prinze Jr. proposed in 2001, with Gellar preferring a private moment over a public spectacle. 'I didn't want a big public proposal. I wanted something private,' she has said. The couple tied the knot in 2002 and have since collaborated on multiple film projects.

Their joint ventures include the live-action Scooby-Doo movie in 2002, its 2004 sequel Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed, and voice roles in the 2006 animated film Happily N'Ever After.

Family Life and Lasting Legacy

Expanding their family, the couple welcomed their first child in 2009 and their second in 2012. They are proud parents to daughter Charlotte Grace, 16, and son Rocky James, 13. Their enduring romance and successful partnership both on and off-screen continue to captivate fans, solidifying their status as a beloved Hollywood duo.
