Sarah Jessica Parker's Rare Public Kiss with Matthew Broderick Steals Golden Eve Spotlight
Sarah Jessica Parker's rare public kiss with Matthew Broderick

In a rare departure from their usual reserved public demeanour, actress Sarah Jessica Parker shared a passionate kiss with her husband of 27 years, Matthew Broderick, at a star-studded Hollywood event on Thursday evening.

A Golden Moment of Affection

The 60-year-old star and her 63-year-old actor husband are typically seen holding hands when out together, making this display a notable exception. The moment occurred at 'Golden Eve: The Golden Globes Honor Helen Mirren & Sarah Jessica Parker', held at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills.

Parker, who was collecting an award, looked radiant in a gold gown paired with a black jacket. The couple, who famously married in a surprise 1997 ceremony at New York City's Angel Orensanz Synagogue, are parents to three children: son James Wilkie, born in 2002, and twin daughters Tabitha and Marion, born in 2009.

Carrie Bradshaw's Future & Other Projects

The public display of affection comes as Parker has recently hinted at a potential return to her iconic Sex and the City role. The sequel series, And Just Like That..., concluded after its third season in 2025. However, Parker has clarified that any decision about reviving Carrie Bradshaw rests solely with the show's creator, Michael Patrick King.

"I hear lots of very original ideas," Parker told Variety. "But the only thing that really matters is what excites Michael Patrick King." She added that, for now, King is "not thinking" about a future project for the franchise. In a previous interview, Parker suggested she might merely be "on hiatus" from the character, leaving the door open for a comeback.

Executive producer Elisa Zuritsky has also hinted at more story potential, stating: "She's alive, so it could happen. Sarah Jessica Parker is Michael Patrick King's muse."

Bittersweet Sequels and Exciting Returns

Parker's career discussions extended beyond Manhattan. She addressed the potential sequel to the 2005 Christmas film The Family Stone, calling it a "bittersweet quandary" following the death of co-star Diane Keaton in October. Parker expressed hope that the project, which had involved conversations with the original cast, could still move forward despite scheduling challenges and Keaton's passing.

In more upbeat sequel news, Parker confirmed that a third Hocus Pocus film is still in development. She joked that her co-star Bette Midler, 80, is "like a 13-year-old girl with a new bike" when it comes to the project. Midler herself has teased that the script is "brilliant," though logistical details are still being worked out. The original 1993 film featured Parker, Midler, and Kathy Najimy as the resurrected Sanderson sister witches.
