The mother of accused killer cop Beau Lamarre-Condon has been charged with perverting the course of justice by attempting to influence a witness in his upcoming double murder trial. Coleen Lamarre, a 63-year-old former NSW Police Force employee, was arrested at her home in Balmain, Sydney, on Wednesday and refused bail.
Lamarre has fiercely supported her son since his arrest and privately expressed doubts about him receiving a fair trial. She believes he was treated poorly at work and is deeply suspicious of her former employer. She has regularly attended his court appearances but shunned media attention, convinced her communications were being monitored and that she might be under physical surveillance.
Charges and Allegations
Police allege Lamarre went too far in using her background knowledge of law enforcement to assist her son's defence. She was charged on Wednesday with doing an act with the intention of perverting the course of justice. Homicide Squad detectives stated she attempted to influence a key witness to change their evidence in a high-profile double murder trial.
Beau Lamarre-Condon, 30, a former police officer, is accused of murdering television presenter Jesse Baird, 26, and his Qantas flight attendant boyfriend Luke Davies, 29, in February 2024. He has pleaded not guilty to both murder charges and is set to face trial in September.
Background of the Case
Lamarre-Condon allegedly shot the men with his Glock service pistol and dumped their bodies in surfboard bags near Bungonia, about 180km south-west of Sydney. He was arrested after walking into Bondi police station. The bodies were found days later.
The former policeman has accused investigating officers of serious misconduct and corruption. He intends to call 50 to 60 witnesses, mostly police officers, in his defence. He has had three legal teams since his arrest and is now represented by barrister John Stratton SC and solicitor Ben Archbold.
- Lamarre-Condon joined the NSW Police Force in 2017 and was a senior constable at the time of the alleged murders.
- He previously ran a celebrity blog, posing with stars like Taylor Swift and Harry Styles.
- He was sacked from the police force in March 2024.
Coleen Lamarre is due to appear in court on Thursday. Her daughter also once worked for the police. The case continues to draw significant public attention as the trial approaches.
