Coronation Street legend Sally Dynevor has been playing Sally Webster for 40 years, and has two famous daughters who have followed in her footsteps into TV acting.
Sally, 63, first arrived on the ITV soap in 1986 as Sally Seddon, who would go on to become renowned for tying the knot with garage mechanic Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell). From a harrowing cancer storyline to numerous romantic disasters on the cobbles, Sally's four decades in Weatherfield have been anything but dull. Particularly given that her marriage to Tim (Joe Duttine) hasn't exactly been plain sailing.
It's safe to say Sally is a soap icon who has featured in numerous major plotlines and remains adored for her comedic timing and reputation as the street's premier gossip.
Life Beyond the Cobbles
Beyond the soap, actress Sally is happily settled with her other half, Tim, whom she wed in 1995. Tim is an accomplished screenwriter who has contributed to the ITV drama Emmerdale, alongside working on television programmes The Drowning and Desperate Measures. According to IMDb, Tim penned over 2,000 episodes of Emmerdale from 1995 to 2016. His final credited instalment, broadcast in January 2016, centred on Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen) attempting to offload her share of The Woolpack, while Adam Barton's (Adam Thomas) sentimental bond with baby Johnny Woodfield proved problematic.
Sally recently thrilled supporters after offering them a glimpse into her personal life with Tim. On her Instagram, she posted multiple photographs from their latest adventure in Iceland, where the blissful pair were soaking up the spectacular scenery. She captioned the post: "Well, that was an adventure. What a wonderful, beautiful country Iceland is". As anticipated, fans and co-stars were quick to shower praise on the post. Jane Danson remarked: "Pretty special I really want to go again. Glad you had a fab time Sal". Sally Ann Matthews wrote: "Oh wowzers", while Jude Riordan chimed in: "I'm going next week!".
Famous Daughters
Sally and Tim are parents to three children, including daughters Phoebe, 31, and Hattie, 22, and son Sam, 29. Both girls have followed their parents' footsteps into television careers.
Hattie Dynevor
Hattie Dynevor features in the BBC drama Waterloo Road, portraying Libby Guthrie, the daughter of history teacher Neil (Neil Fitzmaurice), and has so far appeared in series 13-17. She also starred in the recently released gripping Netflix series Legends as Arabella, which also features Steve Coogan and Tom Burke.
Phoebe Dynevor
Hattie's older sister, Phoebe, also embarked on an acting career on Waterloo Road, playing Siobhan Mailey between 2009 and 2020. Fans of Bridgerton will also recognise the actress as Daphne, the wife of Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, portrayed by Regé-Jean Page, between 2020 and 2022. Speaking to Collider, Phoebe discussed a potential return to the Netflix period drama. She stated, "When the first season came out, they didn't know what they needed to put in play. We were the ones that got away, in a certain way. I can only speak for myself, I would always come back if I was asked. I have not received a call. When I get that call, I will be there if I can." Since then, she has featured in a plethora of popular television programmes, including The Musketeers, Dickensian, Snatch, and Ten Percent. Beyond the realm of television, Phoebe has showcased her acting prowess in films such as The Colour Room, Inheritance, and Thrash.
Coronation Street airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX.
