Brooklyn Beckham Says He Hasn't Worked in Five Years Despite Launching Hot Sauce Brand
Brooklyn Beckham: I Haven't Worked in Five Years

Millionaire Brooklyn Beckham has stated that he has not been employed for the past five years. The 27-year-old influencer and budding chef made the declaration during an event at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on Monday.

As the son of David and Victoria Beckham, who have amassed an estimated personal fortune of around £1.185 billion from their respective careers in football and music (Victoria is now a fashion designer), Brooklyn's financial situation is secure. He married actress Nicola Peltz Beckham, 31, in 2022; she is the daughter of American businessman Nelson Peltz, whose personal net worth is thought to be approximately $1.5 billion (£1.12 billion). Brooklyn's individual net worth is estimated at around $10 million (£7.48 million).

Over the years, Brooklyn has pursued various careers, including photography and modeling. However, he is now deeply committed to his hot sauce brand, Cloud23, which he launched in 2024. During the Tribeca event, he explained that his passion for the brand has occupied his time.

'Four years ago I was trying to work out what I wanted to do with my life, what I wanted to do for work,' he said. 'Basically my wife and I got really drunk in our apartment while making hot sauce. I watched a short little video on how to make it and the next day I tried it again. I really wanted to see what I could create.'

Cloud23 is a high-end organic sauce brand that launched exclusively at Whole Foods in the United States and is now available at Erewhon, Amazon, and Planet Organic. The two flavors, hot habanero and sweet jalapeño, retail for £15 each.

Brooklyn also revealed his dedication to the brand: 'I'm always calling the CEO on Sunday at 10pm with a crazy idea of what direction we might go in or a condiment idea. I'll call with a ridiculous idea. I can come across as annoying sometimes.' He was speaking on the 'From Passion to Product: Building a Culinary Brand That Lasts' panel alongside Cloud23 CEO Jeff Day.

Brooklyn has previously faced criticism for his enthusiastic culinary videos on social media, including making almond milk with 'enough vanilla extract to kill a man' and a 'raw' beef Sunday roast. His past series 'Cookin' With Brooklyn' also drew attention in 2022 when an eight-minute episode featuring a bagel sandwich with coleslaw, hash brown, and fried sea bream cost $100,000 (£74,800) to produce and required a crew of 62 people.

This year, Brooklyn has been in the headlines primarily due to his feud with his parents. In January, he confirmed the rift in an explosive Instagram statement after he and Nicola were notably absent from milestone family events, including David's 50th birthday and his knighthood ceremony. None of the Beckhams were invited to Brooklyn and Nicola's vow renewal ceremony last summer. Brooklyn accused his parents of being 'controlling' and prioritizing 'Brand Beckham,' stating he was 'standing up' for himself and did 'not want to reconcile' with them. He also claimed his family tried 'endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding' and said his mother was 'dancing inappropriately' on him during his first dance with his wife.

David and Victoria have largely remained silent about the fallout. However, in May, Victoria made a veiled reference to parenting Brooklyn and his siblings, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 14, while discussing the family's commercial empire on Emma Grede's podcast 'Aspire.' When asked how she decides what stays private, Victoria responded, 'When David and I first met, it was never our intention to start a brand. People talk about “Brand Beckham” – that has happened so organically.' She noted that David's early deals with Brylcreem and Adidas and her own with Walker's crisps, Pepsi, and Chupa Chups were never part of a discussed brand strategy. She insisted she was 'never pushy' with her children, acknowledging their different upbringing. 'We've always tried to protect the children as much as we can, we've always been very close,' she said.
