Josephine Jobert, known for her role as Florence Cassell on BBC's Death in Paradise, left the show in 2024. The actress had been part of the series since 2015, with her character rising through the ranks of the island's police force.
Departure from Death in Paradise
Jobert initially left the show in 2019 but returned for series 10 and 11. She made an unexpected comeback in 2024 when her character emerged from witness protection. Fans feared Florence would be killed off after she was shot while tracking her fiancé Patrice, who was involved in a murder conspiracy. However, DI Mooney saved her, and she survived. Deeply affected, Florence chose to leave her career and Saint Marie.
In a video message, Jobert explained her departure was due to personal and professional reasons, calling it "nothing dramatic." She said: "Everything is fine. It's just that I've been working on Death in Paradise for five years. I loved every minute of it. I'm going to miss the show, but that's life."
New Role in Saint-Pierre
Since leaving Death in Paradise, Jobert has taken on a new role as Deputy Chief Geneviève "Arch" Archambault in CBC's Saint-Pierre. She stars alongside Allan Hawco, known for Jack Ryan, who plays Donny 'Fitz' Fitzpatrick. The series follows the duo as they uncover crime in the French territory off Canada.
The show debuted in 2025 and quickly became popular, securing a second season. It reached UK audiences via U&Alibi in April. Deadline confirmed a third season renewal, with filming starting soon.
What's Next for Saint-Pierre
Hawco and co-creator Robina Lord-Stafford expressed gratitude: "We're incredibly grateful for the continued support from CBC, our partners at Fifth Season, and worldwide fans. Returning to Newfoundland and Saint-Pierre et Miquelon for Season 3 is exciting. We look forward to bringing more mystery, twists, and character dynamics."
Death In Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
