Robyn Lively has revealed that her family's festive plans with her younger sister, actress Blake Lively, and brother-in-law Ryan Reynolds remain up in the air this year. The uncertainty comes as Blake and Ryan's high-profile legal battle with director and co-star Justin Baldoni intensifies.
Festive Plans on Hold Amid Legal Turmoil
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball in Inglewood, California last Friday, Robyn, 53, admitted she and Blake, 38, have not yet finalised arrangements for Christmas and New Year's. She explained that it is typical for their family to make plans at the last minute, as they often "never know" their schedules far in advance.
"Oh my gosh. We never know our plans," Robyn said. "But when we do, it's like we're up and out like, 'Come on, let's go!'" Her husband, actor Bart Johnson, 54, added his voice, noting, "[Blake and Ryan] love Christmas. We all love Christmas so much."
Despite the unclear December schedule, Robyn emphasised that she and her family, which includes three children, see Blake and Ryan "a lot" throughout the year. Her daughter Kate, 20, who also attended the Jingle Ball, spoke fondly of her relationship with Blake and Ryan's four young children, calling them her "best friends."
A Close-Knit Family Despite Age Gap
Robyn has always been open about her close bond with Blake, despite the 15-year age gap between them. In a 2022 interview with Fox News, she described how becoming mothers has brought them even closer. "There's a significant age gap, which feels almost nonexistent because she's now a mom," Robyn said. "We have so many similarities. Our relationship is on a deeper level."
Blake Lively is one of four older siblings, including brother Eric and three half-siblings from her mother's previous marriage: Robyn, Jason, and Lori.
The Ongoing $400 Million Legal Feud
The cloud over the family's holiday planning is the ongoing and acrimonious legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. The conflict stems from their work on the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's novel, It Ends With Us.
In December 2024, Lively filed a formal complaint alleging sexual harassment and a smear campaign by Baldoni during production. Baldoni responded at the start of this year with a staggering $400 million countersuit against Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and others, accusing them of defamation and extortion. However, a judge dismissed Baldoni's counterclaims in June 2025.
The feud has grown increasingly bitter, with Baldoni attempting to subpoena Blake's close friend, Taylor Swift. Despite the leak of controversial remarks attributed to Baldoni, it appears Blake Lively has no intention of settling the case out of court. The dispute, which began before the film's August 2025 release, is now scheduled to proceed to a trial in U.S. District Court in March 2026.
As the legal proceedings continue to demand attention, the simple question of where the extended Lively-Reynolds clan will gather for the holidays remains, for now, unanswered.
