Martha Stewart Firmly Denies Plastic Surgery Amid Youthful Appearance Speculation

Martha Stewart has once again addressed persistent rumours about plastic surgery, speaking candidly about the speculation surrounding her remarkably youthful appearance. The 84-year-old television personality and business mogul opened up about the topic in a recent interview, firmly denying any cosmetic procedures while explaining her approach to aging gracefully.

"I Have Not Ever Had Plastic Surgery"

Stewart was unequivocal in her denial, telling People magazine in an article published on Friday: "Everybody insists that I've had plastic surgery and I have not ever had plastic surgery." She emphasised her honesty, stating: "I'm the most honest person on earth — but if they won't take my word for it, I don't know. How can they not take my word for it? That's the truth!"

The speculation has followed Stewart for years, particularly intensifying after her 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover appearance. At the time, she addressed similar rumours, telling Variety: "There are only a few naysayers saying, 'The pictures are over-retouched.' But they're not. They are incredibly accurate pictures. I was really pleased that there was not much airbrushing."

The Only Facial Procedure: A Repair After Dog Accident

Stewart did recall one incident involving a plastic surgeon, but she categorically distinguishes it from cosmetic surgery. Years earlier, one of her dogs accidentally hit her face as she bent down to say goodbye. "She didn't bite me. She bashed my lip into my tooth and split it from my lip almost all the way to my nose and blood started gushing out all over the dog," Stewart remembered.

After driving to a medical facility during a snowstorm, she received "16 stitches in my lip." Stewart explained: "I can't call that plastic surgery, that is a repair. It's a terrible, terrible, terrible split lip... you cannot see. I healed so well. That is the extent of a plastic surgeon working on my face." She added definitively: "That is the only time I've ever had a plastic surgeon touch my face."

Stewart's Approach to Aging and Skincare

The businesswoman, who will turn 85 in August, shared her philosophy on aging: "I don't think a lot about age, but I don't want to look my age at all. And that's why I really work hard at it." During a recent appearance on the 50 & Unfiltered podcast, she expressed that plastic surgery "doesn't appeal" to her, elaborating: "I have this theory that if one takes care of oneself really well and follows strict but not life-threatening kinds of disciplines, one can look good, feel good and be good for a whole life."

Stewart attributes her appearance to a disciplined lifestyle and skincare regimen:

  • Drinking green juice daily
  • Taking vitamins regularly
  • Eating healthfully
  • Having "very good skin doctors"
  • Being "very careful in the sun" with hats and daily sunblock
  • Maintaining "very healthy, good hair"

She also incorporates products from her skincare line Elm Biosciences, which she co-founded in September 2025, into her morning beauty routine. The brand includes a night cream, serum, and daily skin supplement.

Minimal Cosmetic Interventions

While Stewart "hates" Botox, explaining that when she has attempted it, her "eyebrows kind of go up in a V and that looks so unnatural," she does occasionally get "certain fillers" for "a little line here or there." During a 2024 episode of The Martha Stewart podcast with cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Belkin, it was mentioned that she has had a "little bit of skin tightening" using devices such as Sofwave.

Family History and Social Media Presence

Interestingly, while Stewart herself avoids plastic surgery, her mother pursued it at age 85. "My mother came to me when she was 85 and asked if I would help her get a facelift," Stewart recalled. The surgeon told her mother: "You're a beautiful woman. I can't make you look younger, but I can make you look better." Stewart noted: "So she went for it… and she looked great."

Stewart frequently shares her appearance on social media, recently appearing in a video for Vogue Beauty Secrets where she showcased her dewy, makeup-free skin while wearing a light blue negligee. These posts consistently fuel discussion about her youthful glow, though Stewart maintains her appearance results from healthy living rather than surgical intervention.
