Lizzie Cundy Apologises After Royal Ascot Rejects Her Dress

Lizzie Cundy has issued an apology after being denied entry to Royal Ascot due to her outfit choice. The 58-year-old former WAG admitted she received a 'rap on the knuckles' for breaching the event's strict dress code.

The Fashion Blunder

Lizzie wore an elegant cream midi dress featuring several cut-out details, paired with a Saint Laurent clutch bag, an oversized white feather fascinator, and matching shoes. Despite the chic appearance, the dress was deemed inappropriate for the prestigious event.

Speaking to The Mail, she said: 'Yes, I did get a rap on the knuckles but actually the dress was way more conservative than things I've worn in the past. It had a polo neck. However, if I have offended anyone then I do apologise.'

Royal Ascot's Strict Dress Code

Royal Ascot enforces one of the most stringent dress codes in the racing world. For ladies, dresses or skirts must extend just above the knee or longer, and shoulder straps must be at least one inch wide. Strapless or halterneck designs are strictly prohibited. Headwear is mandatory, and trouser suits must be full-length with matching colours and materials. Jumpsuits must also fall below the knee.

For men, a black or grey top hat is required, along with a complete morning dress in black, grey, or navy, plus a waistcoat and tie.

Celebrity Attendees

Among the notable racegoers were Spice Girl Geri Halliwell and her husband Christian Horner, TV chef Mary Berry, West End musical impresario Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, and American singer Vanessa Williams.

Lizzie's WAG Legacy

Lizzie, the ex-wife of Spurs and Chelsea star Jason Cundy, has previously embraced her title as the 'original WAG'. She explained: 'Honestly, I've made a living out of being one so while I know some don't like the term, for me it really did earn me a living.' She added: 'I did a show called WAG's World where I would go around to footballers' wives' homes and look in their drawers and closets and these wonderful homes, it was a great show.'
