Singer Lily Allen appeared to be living her best life this week, enjoying a lavish getaway in the Cayman Islands with a group of famous friends. The 40-year-old was spotted cruising the crystal-clear waters in a high-speed Jet Car, which reportedly costs a cool £300 per hour to rent.
A star-studded Caribbean escape
Allen has jetted off on a luxury trip, bringing along her two children and a close-knit group of pals. Her holiday companions include influential transgender TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney, 29, and 22-year-old Heartstopper actor Joe Locke. The group spent Tuesday soaking up the Caribbean sun and enjoying various watersports around the Western Caribbean.
Snaps shared on social media showed the Smile hitmaker laughing and having fun with her friends. In one image, Allen, Mulvaney, and Locke are seen beaming for the camera on a boat, clearly relishing their time away.
Keeping it real at the airport
Interestingly, the star's journey to paradise involved a surprisingly down-to-earth moment. As she travelled to her holiday destination on Sunday, Lily opted to sit with the general public at the departure gate rather than in a private airport lounge.
She shared a bare-faced selfie on Instagram with her daughters, Ethel, 14, and Marnie, 12. While Allen posed in glasses and a burgundy baseball cap, one of her daughters appeared slightly embarrassed, watching her mother while resting her chin on her hand.
This choice to forgo VIP treatment comes with significant context. Allen recently revealed she is receiving therapy for a spending addiction, having splashed out on extravagant items "convinced she is a billionaire" following the success of her latest album.
Confronting a spending habit
On a Christmas special of her Miss Me? podcast with co-host Miquita Oliver, Allen opened up about her lavish purchases. These included a £120,000 Porsche and a £16,500 Hermès handbag. "Handbags have been bought, jewels and a car has been bought," she admitted.
The singer disclosed she has been undergoing Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for the past four months to address her habits. According to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, EMDR helps people recover from past experiences affecting their mental health.
Allen described the therapy as "life-changing," explaining it helps dissociate the feeling of self-worth from material purchases. "In my case a handbag, you separate it by saying this handbag is making me a better person," she said.
The holiday follows a challenging year for Allen, which included her "devastating" split from Stranger Things actor David Harbour, 50, at the end of 2024. Her latest album, West End Girl, details her recovery from the marriage breakdown. The singer has also been linked to 28-year-old writer Jonah Freud, with the pair spotted kissing at a London Christmas party last week.
