Nicole Kidman Finds Solace in Antarctica After Finalising Divorce
Kidman's Antarctic Retreat After Divorce

Following the formal conclusion of her divorce from country music star Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman appears to be seeking solace and distance. The acclaimed actress has turned to one of the most remote locations on Earth for respite, embarking on a luxury cruise to Antarctica with her sister.

A Remote Retreat for Reflection

Fresh from finalising the legal dissolution of her 19-year marriage earlier this month, Nicole Kidman was photographed on the deck of a cruise ship amidst the stark, frozen landscapes of Antarctica. The 58-year-old Oscar winner was joined by her sister, Antonia Kidman, 55, for what she described as a "once in a lifetime adventure."

Scenic Adventures and Matching Ensembles

In a series of images shared on her Instagram account, the Australian star was seen admiring a vast, blue-tinted glacier. She was wrapped up against the polar chill in a practical white puffer jacket and a stylish black wool hat, completing the look with sporty sunglasses.

Further photographs captured the sisters in coordinated red windbreakers and life jackets as they observed the local wildlife. Their attention was focused on a charming family of chinstrap penguins, iconic residents of the Antarctic region.

The End of a Long Marriage

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, also 58, were married for nearly two decades before their separation. The actress filed for divorce in September, citing that the couple had been living "separate lives" for the preceding three years. The divorce was finalised at the start of this month.

Agreed Terms and Parenting Plan

Court documents revealed that the former couple reached an amicable financial settlement. Both parties waived any rights to child or spousal support and agreed to cover their own legal costs. They share two daughters: Sunday Rose, aged 17, and Faith Margaret, aged 14.

Under the established parenting plan, Nicole Kidman will have the children for 306 days of the year, while Keith Urban will spend 59 days with them annually.

A Luxury Antarctic Expedition

The trip was facilitated by the adventure holiday company Silversea, which operates high-end cruises to destinations across the globe. Their Antarctic voyages represent a significant investment, often costing passengers tens of thousands of pounds for the experience.

In her social media post, Kidman expressed gratitude, noting that the journey had taken her to her seventh continent. The retreat comes after a professionally successful period for the actress, who received a Golden Globe nomination last year for her role in the film Babygirl.

By choosing the profound isolation of Antarctica, Nicole Kidman has found a dramatic backdrop for personal reflection and family bonding following a major life transition.
