A Liverpool supporter hurled a ball at Crystal Palace defender Daniel Munoz during the closing stages of the Eagles' 3-1 defeat at Anfield. The incident occurred as Munoz prepared to take a throw-in, moments after scoring a contentious goal that reduced Liverpool's lead to 2-1.
Jeers rang out from frustrated fans as a stray ball struck Munoz on the back of the head. Turning to face the crowd, the Colombian was met with gestures before referee Andy Madley intervened. Teammate Maxence Lacroix also moved to support Munoz, who then completed the throw-in as play resumed.
The controversy stemmed from Munoz's goal earlier in the half. Liverpool goalkeeper Freddie Woodman had collided with Ismaila Sarr and collapsed in apparent pain after making a save. While Virgil van Dijk and Alexis Mac Allister appealed for play to stop, the referee allowed play to continue, and Munoz chipped the ball into the net.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot was visibly furious on the touchline, convinced the game should have been halted. Woodman required medical treatment but was able to continue after being replaced by third-choice goalkeeper Armin Pecsi, who was ultimately not needed.
Despite the win, Liverpool faced concerns as Mohamed Salah was substituted 15 minutes into the second half with a suspected hamstring injury. The Egyptian, who has confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the season, may have played his final match for the Reds if the injury sidelines him for upcoming fixtures against Manchester United, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Brentford.
