Khloe Kardashian's 'Perfect' Fragrance Photos Spark Photoshop Debate
Reality television star Khloe Kardashian finds herself at the centre of a fresh Photoshop scandal, with fans accusing her of dramatically altering her appearance in a new campaign for her fragrance, 'Almost Always'. The 41-year-old, who recently declared she was cutting back on editing her pictures, appears almost unrecognisable in the glossy shots, prompting a wave of criticism and praise online.
An 'AI' Look: Fans React to the Campaign
In the promotional images, Khloe poses in a light purple bodice with a floral headdress, her visage appearing cartoonishly glossy and perfect. The transformation was so severe that it was difficult for many to discern if they were looking at a filtered version of the star or a digital painting. Social media users were quick to call out the mom-of-two, with one directly referencing her recent pledge, commenting, 'Thought you said you weren't Photoshopping your pics?'
The criticism was not isolated. Another user wryly noted, 'Well done, Photoshop!' while a third delivered a more cutting remark: 'Your whole face is manufactured.' Some observers went further, witheringly describing the final image as an 'AI version looking nothing like a human' and criticising the technical execution of the edit itself.
A Recurring Controversy and a Promise to Change
This is not the first time Khloe has faced accusations of digital manipulation. Back in April, viewers of her Hulu series, The Kardashians, spotted a jarring discrepancy. The show featured behind-the-scenes footage of a photoshoot for her podcast cover, where Khloe looked noticeably different from the suspiciously perfect final image that was selected.
One Reddit user highlighted the contrast with side-by-side screenshots, sparking a flood of stunned reactions. A fan expressed their frustration, writing, 'Khloe is beautiful but she doesn’t look like this at all. It breaks my heart for her, because she doesn’t need to do all this editing. Also frustrating because she denies editing her face.' Others pointed out that a similar level of airbrushing may have been used in the campaign for her previous perfume, 'XO'.
Khloe's Vow to 'Reprogram' Her Mind on Filters
The controversy is particularly pointed given Khloe's own comments on the matter. In July, during an episode of her podcast, Khloé in Wonderland, she addressed a fan's accusation that she edits 'every picture'. She admitted that while there 'was a time that I definitely did' heavily alter her images, she is now trying to change.
She attributed part of her past behaviour to the 'filter lifestyle' era, confessing that she now feels some of her old edited photos made her look like a 'cartoon character'. 'It's humiliating that I even thought that was a version of myself,' she admitted. Khloe explained that she has actively worked to 'reprogram my mind' and use filters less often, acknowledging that the digitally enhanced versions are not real.
Despite the online backlash, the campaign was not without its supporters. Many of Khloe's followers flooded the comments with compliments, with one calling her a 'timeless beauty' and another declaring it her 'best look of all time.' The incident underscores the ongoing tension between celebrity image curation, fan expectations, and the promotion of realistic beauty standards in the age of social media.
