The BBC has confirmed that Death in Paradise will return for a sixteenth season, with filming set to begin in Guadeloupe in April 2026. The announcement comes as the fifteenth season aired its finale on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
DI Mervin Wilson, played by Don Gilet, continues to lead the team on Saint Marie. The season finale saw him investigate the death of a monster hunter and deal with the unexpected arrival of his niece, Eloise Clarke (Avah Cotterell).
Shaquille Ali-Yebuah, who plays Sebastian Rose, told Radio Times: "Everything commences again. Back out to Guadeloupe, hurry up and get our tan back." He added: "I'm looking like Bart Simpson right now. It's going to be exciting."
It remains unclear whether Death in Paradise will return for a Christmas special in December. The show's first festive episode aired in 2021, featuring the return of Danny John-Jules as Officer Dwayne Myers.
