Kelsey Parker has bravely revealed the heartbreaking moment she told her two children that their father, The Wanted star Tom Parker, had died from a brain tumour.
In an emotional interview, Kelsey shared how she broke the news to their daughter Aurelia, now four, and son Bodhi, now two, after Tom lost his battle with cancer in March 2022 at just 33 years old.
The Painful Conversation
"I had to sit them down and explain that Daddy wasn't coming home," Kelsey recalled, her voice trembling. "Aurelia was old enough to understand something was wrong, but Bodhi was just a baby. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do."
Keeping Tom's Memory Alive
The young widow has been determined to keep Tom's memory alive for their children. "We talk about him every day," she said. "Aurelia will point at the sky and say 'That's my daddy up there.' It breaks my heart but I'm glad they remember him."
Tom's Brave Battle
Tom was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in 2020 but continued performing with The Wanted during treatment. The singer documented his journey in a moving documentary and memoir before his tragic passing.
Kelsey has since become an advocate for brain tumour research, raising awareness and funds through the charitable foundation set up in Tom's name.
A Message of Hope
Despite her grief, Kelsey remains positive: "Tom taught us to live every day to the fullest. That's what I'm trying to do for our children - to show them that even in darkness, there can be light."
