Hollywood star Jack Black has publicly honoured his wife Tanya Haden with a touching tribute as the couple commemorated their 20-year wedding anniversary. The 56-year-old actor utilised Instagram on Sunday to post a series of nostalgic photographs capturing cherished moments from their relationship and family life.

Black's social media post featured multiple images showcasing the couple's journey over the years. One photograph depicted the pair pulling amusing faces while gazing affectionately into each other's eyes, while another captured them sharing laughter with Tanya, aged 54, seated comfortably on Jack's lap. The actor also included childhood pictures of their sons Samuel, 19, and Thomas, 17, alongside a tropical vacation snapshot of Tanya enjoying a pool and swing.
Accompanying the visual celebration, Black wrote a simple yet profound caption: '20 years! Happy anniversary my love. @tanyahaden'. This public declaration of affection highlights the enduring strength of their marital bond.
High School Origins and Delayed Romance
The couple's connection traces back to their teenage years at Santa Monica High School in California, where they first encountered each other. Despite this early meeting, their romantic relationship didn't immediately develop due to existing commitments.
During an appearance on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast, Black revealed: 'I just was always in awe of them,' referring to Tanya and her triplet sisters. 'And we would cross paths, and I had a girlfriend, and she had a boyfriend and it was just a little talking here and there. And then that day came when neither of us had a significant other.'
Black admitted to feeling intimidated and hesitant to initiate contact, explaining: 'I had always been so kind of intimidated and never really wanted to really approach — she made the first move is the point.'
The Turning Point and Rapid Progression
The relationship's pivotal moment occurred when both attended a mutual friend's surprise birthday party. Tanya courageously approached Jack, asking if he wanted to join her for dinner and providing her telephone number.
Recalling this significant interaction, Black expressed: 'And I was like, oh my God. Heaven opened up above my head, because it was like, this is the thing that I would always want to happen.' Their connection intensified rapidly following this encounter.
The couple exchanged vows in 2006, merely one year after officially beginning their romantic involvement. Black described their accelerated relationship development: 'We started getting very serious, and the relationship hit the ground running. It's like we were making up for lost time.'
Marriage Decision and Relationship Foundation
Interestingly, marriage wasn't initially part of their plans despite both desiring children. Black disclosed that his brother ultimately persuaded him to propose after learning Tanya was pregnant.
'We didn't get married because it was like, [we] don't really believe in the contract and that whole thing. Why is it necessary? And then as soon as she had a baby in her belly, my brother was like, 'What the hell are you — you marry her!'' Black recounted. 'I was like, you're right, dude. I got on bended knee and she laughed and said yes.'
The actor attributes their marital success to their extensive history prior to dating. 'We didn't date or really even talk, but I remember her and her sister[s]. She's a triplet. And just loving the whole family. I just thought they had a real vibe,' he reflected, emphasising how their longstanding familiarity created a solid foundation for their partnership.
