Influencer Tammy Hembrow Removes Ex-Husband Tattoos After I'm A Celeb Revelations
Australian social media star Tammy Hembrow has announced she is undergoing laser treatment to remove several of her iconic tattoos, with fans speculating the decision is directly linked to recent revelations from her ex-husband, Matt Zukowski, on reality television. The 31-year-old influencer shared the news via Instagram Stories, explaining she no longer needs the ink dedicated to her former partner.
The Tattoos Being Removed
Hembrow revealed she is having three tattoos completely removed through laser procedures. Two of these are explicit references to her ex-husband, Matt Zukowski:
- The date of their wedding, inked on her wrist
- Matt Zukowski's name, tattooed on her hip
The third piece is a large floral design on her back that Hembrow says she has wanted to remove for some time but was previously too apprehensive about the reported pain involved in the removal process.
Timing Following Matt Zukowski's Television Appearance
Hembrow's announcement came just one day after Matt Zukowski, a 30-year-old former Love Island Australia contestant, shared intimate details about their relationship on the Australian version of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!. While filming in Kruger National Park, South Africa, Zukowski made several bombshell revelations about their brief marriage.
He disclosed that their relationship publicly lasted seven months but actually ended after just three, and opened up about his infertility, explaining they had explored IVF options before divorcing. Zukowski also has matching tattoos referencing Hembrow, including their wedding date and the phrase "always and forever" above his knee, though he will need to wait until completing the reality show to consider removal.
Hembrow's Explanation and Concerns
In her Instagram Stories, Hembrow did not directly address Zukowski's television comments but was clear about her reasons for removing the tattoos. "Today is the day I am getting a couple of tattoos removed," she explained. "So the tattoos that I'm getting removed are my wedding date, no surprise there that I don't really need that one any more, and then I have my ex's name down on my hip, which I also don't need."
Regarding the floral back piece, Hembrow admitted: "I've been meaning to do this for so long, but the main thing stopping me is I am scared of the pain. Apparently, it's worse than getting a tattoo." She later shared footage showing part of the removal process for that particular tattoo, indicating all three procedures were underway.
Broader Context of Tattoo Regret and Removal
The situation highlights the growing phenomenon of tattoo regret and the increasing accessibility of laser removal technology. While people are often cautioned that tattoos are permanent, advancements in medical aesthetics now provide options for those who reconsider their ink, particularly when life circumstances change dramatically.
For public figures like Hembrow and Zukowski, whose personal lives are frequently scrutinised, visible tattoos representing past relationships can become uncomfortable reminders when those relationships end. The very public nature of their separation, compounded by reality television revelations, adds another layer to Hembrow's decision to permanently erase these physical symbols from her body.
