ITV producers are reportedly keeping a close watch on contestant Jack Osbourne after his highly charged first days in the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! jungle sparked significant welfare concerns.
Emotional Turmoil Sparks Alarm
The son of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne has experienced an intensely emotional start to his jungle stint, breaking down in tears while discussing his father's recent death and subsequently clashing with fellow campmate Kelly Brook. Ozzy Osbourne died of a heart attack in July at the age of 76, just two weeks after performing his final concert in Birmingham.
During a conversation with campmate Lisa Riley, Jack opened up about the loss, admitting his father's passing was a profound shock. "It was definitely a shock," he said. "We knew he was sick for a while, but we didn't know it would be that quick… It was the ultimate mic drop, he did a massive big gig and was like, 'Alright, I'm done.'"
Concerns from Co-stars and Producers
The concerns were amplified following a spat over dinner preparations, where Jack was seen snapping at Kelly Brook for cutting potatoes incorrectly, an incident that left the model emotional. This behaviour, combined with his visible grief, has led to questions about whether he joined the reality show too soon.
On the companion show I'm A Celebrity... Unpacked, presenters Alison Hammond and Leigh Francis voiced their unease. Alison commented, "I actually feel it's too soon for him to be in the jungle. I found it quite painful seeing his pain on camera." Leigh Francis added, "There's so much sadness in his face. He's gonna get angry at things because his emotions are all over the place."
According to a report from The Sun, these concerns are shared by ITV executives. A source revealed that bosses are 'intensely' monitoring Jack's situation, with a particular focus on his wellbeing given the circumstances.
ITV's Duty of Care Response
An ITV spokesperson emphasised the show's commitment to contestant welfare, stating, "We have procedures in place to monitor the wellbeing of all our campmates 24/7." The source further elaborated that while these protocols are always active, they are being applied with heightened vigilance in Jack's case, acknowledging the unique challenge of processing grief in such a high-pressure environment.
The situation highlights the complex duty of care responsibilities for reality TV producers, especially when contestants are navigating significant personal loss just months before entering the jungle.
