GB News aired a breaking alert about Prince Harry's imminent UK return live from Royal Ascot. Royal correspondent Cameron Walker was on the scene at the races as he confirmed that Harry will be bringing his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children Archie and Lilibet over to England next month for the first time since 2022.
Walker explained: "Well, they haven't been back to Britain since, I think around July 2022, since the Queen was alive. That's how long it has been since the children have been here – Meghan was last in the UK back in September 2022, for charity work initially, but then when she was here the late Queen passed away, so her trip was extended."
"Nonetheless, Harry hasn't allowed his wife Meghan or the two children back to the UK due to security concerns. When they stood back as working members of the Royal Family, the UK Home Office downgraded the level of protection they got when they were in the UK, and to put it mildly Harry wasn't happy about that and said he could not keep his wife and children safe while they are in the UK."
He went on to say: "But it has been confirmed to us here at GB News that Meghan and the children will be accompanying Harry when he comes next month to the United Kingdom for an Invictus Games event in Birmingham. We've known for a couple of months that Prince Harry was certainly going to be here, but this really is a significant step, that Meghan and the two children are coming here."
"The reason being – it suggests, although the Home Office refused to comment on security and so does Prince Harry's team – but it does suggest that Harry is now satisfied with the level of protection his children and wife are going to get. Now remember, he took the Home Office to court, he sued the Home Office for downgrading his security. He lost that legal challenge, and yet basically six months later the Home Office agreed to look at the level of protection he was getting, or look at their risk assessment against Harry – i.e., are there any active risks against him or his family in the UK."
Walker inferred: "Although they're not confirming it, it does suggest that the level of security they're going to get has been enhanced to perhaps the level that he was used to as a senior working member of the Royal Family. It means, in theory, you as taxpayers are paying for this. Now Harry would say he is here because he wants to introduce his children and wife to his extended family, the King and the Queen – let's see if the Prince and Princess of Wales end up having a meeting."
