Eva Longoria kicked off the new year by sharing a sizzling snapshot from her home gym, showcasing her dedication to fitness and her enviable physique. The actress, who turned 50 last year, took to Instagram on Monday to post a selfie following a gruelling workout.
Fitness and Family in Focus
In the striking photo, the Desperate Housewives icon displayed her toned abs in a sleek black sports bra paired with matching high-rise leggings. Embracing a natural look with minimal makeup and her dark hair down, Eva completed her post-workout style with comfortable white Nike trainers and long socks. The image was part of a broader series of posts documenting her day, which also featured moments of relaxation in her lavish garden with a morning beverage, a glass of wine at the beach, and a playful selfie with her seven-year-old son, Santiago.
Alongside the photos, she penned an motivational message to her followers: 'Hoping everyone had a happy new year! First Monday of the year, let’s get it'.
'Perfect Timing': Motherhood in Her 40s
The gym selfie comes as Eva has been reflecting on her life choices, particularly her journey to motherhood. In a recent interview, the star revealed that becoming a mother at the age of 43 was 'perfect timing' for her. She welcomed Santiago in 2018, two years after marrying her husband, José Bastón.
Eva explained that waiting until her forties allowed her to bring more wisdom and patience to parenting. 'You have so much more wisdom and patience when you become a mother in your forties,' she told The Sunday Times Style Magazine. 'It was all about me for so long. Forty years of me was enough time, so I was really blessed to have my child later in life because I had travelled, I'd done everything I needed to do for my career.'
She emphasised that her family is now her top priority, influencing her professional decisions. Eva, who recently starred in the festive film Christmas Karma, stated she will only accept roles that involve people she is eager to work with, as any job takes her away from precious time with Santiago.
No Regrets: Embracing the Struggle
Longoria's path to stardom was not without its challenges. She moved to Hollywood in the 1990s with just six dollars to her name, working as a headhunter for years to make ends meet before landing small TV roles. Her big break came when she was cast as Gabrielle Solis on the hit series Desperate Housewives.
Despite early financial struggles and two previous marriages that ended in divorce—first to actor Tyler Christopher and then to basketball player Tony Parker—Eva insists she has no regrets. 'I loved my struggle,' she told The Sun. 'I love my failures, that's where you grow and learn... I would never change my experience of hardship.'
She applies the same philosophy to her personal life, refusing to warn her younger self away from past relationships. 'I wouldn't say, 'Don't marry that guy'. I don't want to correct my mistakes. I love the path I was on, holes and all,' she affirmed.
Looking forward, Eva is set to direct the Netflix comedy The Fifth Wheel, starring Kim Kardashian, but remains steadfast that her family comes first, crediting her husband José for his unwavering support of her career.
