TV presenter Eamonn Holmes has extended a warm and public Christmas message to his ex-wife, Ruth Langsford, stating she "deserves" the best as they navigate life after their high-profile split.
A Public Wish for the Festive Season
The 66-year-old broadcaster made the comments while attending a Christmas lunch for the Tric Awards, an event for the broadcasting industry. He was accompanied by his girlfriend, Katie Alexander, 44, a Yorkshire-based mother of three. Speaking to The Sun, Eamonn said, "I wish Ruth all the best, she deserves it."
This public gesture of goodwill comes after the couple, who were together for 27 years, announced their separation last year. Ruth Langsford, 65, confirmed last month that she has been having therapy to help cope with the split and is preparing to release her first book, Feeling Fabulous, in the coming year.
Christmas Plans and Health Hopes
Eamonn Holmes also addressed his immediate future, confirming he will be spending the festive period with his new partner. "I’m going to be with Katie this Christmas," he stated, adding that while he has never spent Christmas abroad, he might consider it in future years.
The conversation then turned to his ongoing health struggles. Holmes, who now uses a walking frame following mobility problems from a 2022 surgery, shared his hopes for 2026. His primary dream is to regain his ability to walk more freely. "My dream next year is to go to a park and be able to walk with my frame and my crutches," he explained.
He revealed he is pinning hopes on a revolutionary new medical treatment. "I’ve been tested for my suitability for stem cell treatment three weeks ago," Eamonn said, describing a procedure where pig cells are introduced into the lower spine to repair damaged areas. He spoke candidly about the daily challenges, noting how health concerns dominate his life and the difficulty of constantly needing to ask for help.
Ruth's Path Forward and Newfound Strength
In a recent interview with Women & Home magazine, Ruth Langsford opened up about her emotional journey. She shared that she now sees "light in the future" where before she only saw darkness and fear following the breakup. "But now the fear [has] gone, because what do you do? Do you crumble? Do you lay down and die? Oh no, not I. I will survive," she declared.
When questioned about the possibility of finding love again, the Loose Women panellist remained open but independent. "Never say never. I haven't been put off having a relationship... but I'm definitely not actively looking, and part of that is because I've realised I'm actually quite good on my own. I am independent and quite strong," she affirmed.
As both television personalities move forward separately, Eamonn's public message of support highlights a respectful chapter in their long shared history, even as they build new lives apart.
